Position Summary
Responsible for performing, echo, Doppler/echo, and stress exams on patients, maintains all equipment, educates patients, prepare reports for physician interpretation and prepares encounter forms with proper procedure code for discharge date entry.
Position Responsibilities
· Schedule all stress, echo and Doppler/echo tests for optimum use of equipment and time.
· Ensures that all supplies are stocked for use during tests.
· Maintain and ensures that equipment has preventative maintenance, is repaired and in safe running order.
· Educates patients in regards to procedures for optimum test results
· Closely monitors patients during and after tests for any abnormal occurrence
· Prepares all encounter forms with proper code for discharge entry
· Produces all reports for physician’s analysis.
· Must be accurate in producing images for optimal demonstration of disease.
· Performs other duties as assigned.
Position Qualifications
· High School diploma or equivalent
· Current certifications must be maintained at all times
· Must be a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) certified by American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or a Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) certified by Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI)
· Two to five years of work experience in echocardiography required
· Current BLS and CPR certification required
· Coding education helpful
· Knowledge of CPT and ICD 10 codes
· Excellent oral, written and organizations skills with the ability to be flexible and deal effectively with staff, physicians and patients.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to walk, stand and sit intermittently. Upon occasions be able to assist in properly moving a patient. Be able to lift up to 30 pounds. May need to push or pull medical equipment. May have to stoop, bend knees and/or reach. Must be able to use the keyboard on a computer. Phone work required.
