Position Summary :
Reporting to the Director of Library and Archives, the Library and Archives Assistant provides guest services and administrative and specialized support within Crystal Bridges' Library and Archives department.
Responsibilities span the museum's reference, rare book, and archival collections. This position supports circulation and reference, library cataloging, archival processing, and day-to-day operations.
The library welcomes all museum guests, and the Library and Archives Assistant plays a key role in creating an open and engaging guest experience.
The Assistant also acts as the primary department liaison for library volunteers.

Assist with library tours and public programsSupport biannual collection inventories of the reference collection, as well as as-needed collection shifts of reference, rare book, and archival collections
Participate on department, division, and museum-wide working groups and committeesPerform other related duties as assigned by the Director of Library and Archives
Qualifications and Skills :
BA or equivalent experienceOne year of related experience in a library, museum, or comparable work environmentProficient in Microsoft Office;
capacity to use and accurately enter data into complex information management systemsStrong organizational skills, including attention to detail and deadlinesExcellent oral and written communication skillsAbility to work independently and effectively interact with a wide range of colleagues and constituentsPreferred Skills and Abilities
Art subject cataloging experienceExperience working with rare and / or artist booksExperience processing archival collectionsBackground in art history, American history, museum studies, or a related fieldKnowledge of print and electronic resources for artPhysical Demands and Work Environment :

Physical demands : In the work environment described below, position requires work at a desk, utilizing a computer and a telephone for prolonged periods of time, good eye / hand coordination, bending and stretching for filing, and physical stamina to lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a height of at least three feet for file and materials storage as appropriate for the demands of the office.
Visual acuity to review written materials is required for this job.Work environment : Work will be performed in an office environment and museum spaces.
The noise level in the museum work environment is usually low to moderate.
