Medi-Weightloss Norwood MA is Hiring a Medical Director Near Norwood, MA

Part-Time Medical Director

Seeking a part-time medical director to join our Medi-Weightloss® team of medical professionals in an upscale medical office concentrating on preventative medicine, nutritional guidance, and obesity medicine.

This is a highly flexible position that requires 4 hours per week.

This is an opportunity to address one of the critical health issues in our state. More than half of adults and 1 in 4 high school and middle school students in Massachusetts are overweight or obese.

Medi-Weightloss® is a three-phase, physician supervised weight loss program designed by experts in medicine and public health, nutrition, fitness, motivation, and education. In our clinics physicians and medical professionals prescribe weight loss plans based on each patient’s unique goals, current condition, medical history, and food and exercise preferences. We provide individual counseling and motivate patients to reach their goal weight and transition to a healthier lifestyle.

The medical director works independently with the support of a physician assistant/nurse practitioner, counselors and medical assistants.

Job duties

Professional practice

  • Reviews patient files in accordance with state guidelines.
  • Provides input, medical direction, and support to the Company.
  • Participates in the provision and coordination of medical care at the Clinic.
  • Orders and reviews laboratory studies as well as diagnostic procedures, including EKGs.
  • Assists the Company with the development of clinic specific protocols.

Staff training and supervision

  • Oversees mid-level medical staff as well as nursing clinical staff.
  • Participates in and assists with interviewing, hiring and evaluation of Clinic personnel.
  • Assists the Company with the development of the protocols and the delivery of staff training.
  • Provides training to clinical and non-clinical staff as needed.

Patient care

  • Participates in quality improvement, management, continuing education, and other patient care programs established by the Company.
  • Advises and assists the Company regarding the implementation of patient care policies and other general Clinic policies and procedures.
  • Assists in the resolution of complaints, requests, and inquiries from patients.
  • Assumes responsibility for prescribing FDA approved appetite suppressants according to state and federal guidelines.
  • Reviews patients’ progress and manages patient care accordingly.

Business development

  • Advises the Company concerning market issues and potential practice opportunities.
  • Makes educational presentations relating to weight loss.
  • Facilitates referrals to other healthcare professionals and medical facilities as necessary and communicates with collaborating physicians and/or specialists regarding patients’ care.

Requires current Massachusetts medical license and active DEA license.

Employer covers malpractice premium, medical guideline training and associated travel.
