Position Title: Operations Supervisor

Department: Operations Management

Reports to: Operations Manager

Supervises: Shift Supervisors

Classification: Exempt

Summary:

The Operations Supervisor is responsible for the direct supervision of the Shift Supervisors and support of the Operations department and field staff.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prompt and regular attendance at work.
  • Works with Shift Supervisor to maintain the goals and objectives of the organization.
  • Coordinates with Scheduling Supervisor on open shifts and works on operational changes with the on-duty ShiftSupervisor.
  • Works with logistics to make sure that schedule reflects correct unit assignment and equipment.
  • Provide Leadership and guidance to the Shift Supervisors
  • Fills in as the Operations Manager when that person is out of the office on vacation, sick or training time.
  • Coordinates with the Scheduling Supervisor to review all part-time employees that fail to meet the minimum monthly work requirements and issue corrective actions as appropriate.
  • Attendance at PULSE Meetings both in the morning and the afternoon to provide updates on current operational status.
  • In the absence of the Operations Manager, leads the Operations portion of the New Hire Academy.
  • Ensures quality measures on company policies with emphasis on monitoring operational deficiencies.
  • Obtain a good working knowledge of NinthBrain and ESO systems.
  • Assists with initial reporting and investigation of incident reports (IR’s) placed by employees. Assignments of reports not needing administrative intervention should be closed out or investigated within 48 hours.
  • Daily review of all Incident Reports submitted by the workforce and assigning them to the correct staff member for investigation and follow up.
  • Manage feedback to employees that submit Incident Reports.
  • Monthly reporting number of Incident Reports by type, number closed, and number still open.
  • Maintains open PCR log and assists Operations Supervisor with employee contact for completion.
  • Works with Scheduling Supervisor on attendance points and issues progressive discipline per MedFleet attendance standards.
  • Assists with Supervisor Hotline in absence of ShiftSupervisor.
  • Will be called upon to be the on-duty Shift Supervisor in case of call outs.
  • Participates in Medical Control hotline coverage rotation.
  • Assists Communications department with proper triaging of calls.
  • Keeps Administration and Human Resources informed of changes or potential changes that are occurring in the field.
  • Assists the Operations Manager in short- and long-term planning.
  • Acts as backup field provider during high operational volume to help provide relief for the system.
  • Works with the Safety Supervisor on maintaining a high safety standard.
  • Must support, properly interpret, and implement any polices, protocols, standard operating procedures, philosophies, or other directives as set forth by MedFleet and PatientCare EMS.
  • Performs other duties as required.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current Florida Paramedic certification.
  • Current BLS & ACLS Certification.
  • Possession of or ability to obtain a valid Florida driver license upon offer of employment.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Three (3) years of Paramedic experience AND one (1) year of supervisory experience OR any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge and abilities.
  • Within 6 months of hire, must obtain Community Paramedicine certification.
  • Within 1 year of hire, must obtain Mental Health Resource Officer certification.
  • Excellent communication and customer service.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with other employees and medical agencies to provide the highest level of patient care.
  • Ability to read and interpret all required documents and write required reports and correspondence.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • AS Degree in EMS or equivalent experience
  • Critical Care Paramedic training experience and/or certification
  • Quality management experience (medical and/or non-medical)
  • BLS Instructor and ACLS Instructor certifications preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Working in a wide range of environments and hazardous conditions.
  • Contact with patients under a wide variety of circumstances.
  • Subject to varying and unpredictable situations.
  • Subject to many interruptions.
  • Subject to irregular hours.
  • Frequent pressure due to multiple tasks, radio calls and inquires.
  • Requires judgment/action which could result in the death of a patient.
  • Requires ability to multi-task.
  • Subject to recall during declared or undeclared major emergencies pursuant to F.S. 252.
  • Stooping, sitting, crouching, walking, pulling, lifting, grasping, hearing, seeing up close, seeing far away, kneeling, reaching, pulling, talking, standing, finger movement, repetitive motions, depth perception.
  • Ability to lift and carry patients weighing in excess of 250 pounds, with assistance, without causing harm or aggravating injuries to the patient or themselves.
  • Frequent lifting of people and equipment of 100 pounds; extensive, or considerable standing/walking; Lifts positions, pushes and/or transfers patients; lifts supplies/equipment; manual dexterity and mobility; intermittent exertion when performing treatments.
  • Work requires moderate exposure to one or more disagreeable conditions (i.e., irate customers, inclement weather, excessive noise, extreme temperatures, odors or dust).
  • This position requires moderate exposure or risk to physical health and/or physical safety (e.g. exposure to environmentally hazardous material, heavy equipment) This position often requires the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and includes completing and successfully passing medical evaluations or clearances.
  • Requirements will vary; must be able to perform the essential duties of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
