Job Title: Senior DMI Technical Architect, Public Health

Location: Hybrid - Lansing, MI (Onsite 1-2 days/week)

Duration: Multiple year contract

Overview:

• The Public Health IT Project Manager will assume a managerial role, spearheading the development team's efforts in designing, creating, and maintaining sophisticated Java applications. They will be responsible for coordinating with business units to ensure technical designs align with organizational objectives, optimize applications, streamline critical processes, and uphold data integrity, SEM/SUITE compliance, and application security protocols.
• They will provide strategic direction, oversee analytical initiatives, and contribute to the formulation of technology roadmaps. The absence of this role could result in escalated maintenance costs, architectural flaws, compromised data integrity, and inaccurate reporting to regulatory bodies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide strategic leadership to the application development team, guiding them in the design and implementation of business application components utilizing Object-Oriented Java/JEE technologies and design principles.
• Develop and maintain software design documentation, collaborating with stakeholders to ensure alignment with organizational standards and objectives.
• Lead the development, maintenance, and enhancement of web applications, interfaces, and RESTful web services, ensuring optimal performance and adherence to best practices.
• Collaborate closely with stakeholders to ensure that application architecture meets business requirements and supports organizational goals.
• Foster a culture of quality and excellence, promoting the creation of well-designed, testable code using frameworks such as Spring MVC and Hibernate, along with front-end technologies like JQuery/HTML5, JavaScript, and Angular.
• Oversee the design and maintenance of logical and physical database models in Oracle and SQL Server, ensuring efficiency, scalability, and data integrity.
• Manage the full software development life cycle (SDLC), including the preparation of technical specifications and the execution of complex projects.
• Develop and maintain technology roadmaps for supported applications, aligning with organizational objectives and industry best practices.
• Provide expertise in performance tuning, troubleshooting, and optimization of SQL queries and scripts to ensure optimal database performance.
• Drive the integration of software components into a cohesive and functional system, leveraging source control tools such as GIT and application servers like Apache Tomcat and JBOSS.
• Lead the development of prototypes and mockups for stakeholder review and approval, ensuring clear communication and alignment with project goals.
• Utilize flowcharts, screen layouts, and documentation to facilitate understanding and ensure logical flow within system requirements.
• Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends, incorporating relevant advancements into architectural designs and development processes.

Preferred Qualifications:

• A minimum of 12 years of experience in architecting and developing complex computer systems using Java technologies.
• Extensive experience in reviewing technical designs to uphold enterprise standards and best practices.
• Proficiency in Java IDEs such as Eclipse and STS, with a minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience.
• Strong expertise in designing and reviewing logical and physical data models in SQL and/or PL/SQL, with a minimum of 10 years of experience.
• Demonstrated experience in preparing and maintaining technology roadmaps for supported applications, with at least 8 years of experience.
• Expertise in Java JEE Spring/SpringBoot Framework 3.0, with a minimum of 8 years of development experience.
• Proven track record in developing applications using Hibernate/JPA framework, with at least 8 years of experience.
• Experience in projects development utilizing Angular/React JS and JavaScript frameworks, with a minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience.
• Familiarity with JBOSS Enterprise SOA and DevOps containers environment, with over 5 years of experience.
• Experience in implementing agile development processes, including test-driven development, with over 5 years of experience.
• Knowledge or experience in creating CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, with over 3 years of experience.

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $133,000.00 - $138,000.00 per year
