Public Health Medical Coder

6-month CTH

Hybrid - travel required around KY.

-travel reimbursement provided, travel only 3-4 months per year and flexible

Description

Our client is seeking a Resource Management Analyst III for our Local Health Operations (LHO) branch. This position will serve as the lead medical coding specialist. It will also interact with all 120 counties in the state of Kentucky and build relationships with those that work in the Local Health Departments (LHDs) in the state. This position will perform medical coding audits, keep all coding information in the system up to date and provide coding training to all health departments. You will also assist with User Meetings, system security requests and process service fee overrides.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Answer Coding Questions.
  • Create a yearly coding training.
  • Serve as back up to system security.
  • Perform Onsite Coding Compliance Reviews.
  • Assist with Yearly User Meetings.
  • Update DPH Administrative Reference (AR).
  • Prepare reports.
  • Perform Other Duties as Assigned.

The ideal Candidate will have:

  • Prefer a candidate with CPC Certification.
  • Experience in Medical Billing and Coding.
  • Auditing experience
  • Good Customer Service Skills.
  • Experience in training.
  • Detail oriented
  • High-level of communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft products, including Teams and Excel.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $27.00 - $35.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week

Experience:

  • Medical coding: 3 years (Required)

License/Certification:

  • Certified Professional Coder (Required)

Willingness to travel:

  • 25% (Required)
