This is a hybrid position, requiring 3 days/week in the office in Charlotte, NC
POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for managing the systems engineering activities and operation planning and assessment, including strategic planning initiatives. This position is responsible for identifying goals and targets, assisting with drafting policies and procedures, providing oversight to implementation plans, serving as a liaison, taking ownership of a major business process, and ensuring collaboration. The engineering and storage team is responsible for maintaining the data center equipment (servers, both physical and virtual), server operating systems, storage and back-up devices, in conjunction with the other IT teams. Will serve as the subject matter expert for the most complex problems occurring at the data center and relative to servers, storage and compute and may be called upon to triage complex problems or major incidents.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Strong knowledge of windows servers, storage, and virtualization required to lead a team of engineers who support this environment.
  • Oversee tasks associated with designing, implementing, installing, and maintaining system infrastructures
  • Monitor system performance to proactively identify potential issues and address them accordingly
  • Perform root cause analysis on failed system components and implements corrective measures
  • Design and implement system improvements
  • Evaluate the performance of systems engineering projects
  • Manages the delivery of systems engineering services to agreed service levels.
  • Builds and develops a team of high-performing systems engineers and provides exceptional leadership.
  • Leads the management, administration, and long-term planning for our enterprise storage and backup solutions, messaging systems, fiber channel fabric, VMware infrastructure, federation and authentication services, and other key systems and applications.
  • Engages in the development of the systems infrastructure roadmap and ensure its overall alignment with the IT Service Management strategy.
  • Leads and drives collaboration between systems engineering and all other teams in the IT organization.
  • Works with vendor partners on root cause analysis and Service Level Agreement (SLA) adherence.
  • Coaches, mentors, and trains members of the systems engineering team to ensure they understand their job responsibilities.
  • Builds training plans for the systems engineering team members to encourage growth and advance skill sets.
  • Ensures critical systems are protected and available in accordance with our SLAs.
  • Ensures the scalability of all systems infrastructure and applications to support current and future growth.
  • Availability during off hours, weekends, and holidays to own, manage and resolve high severity incidents as well as major changes or upgrades.
  • Assists with the annual budget as it relates to systems engineering initiatives.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Experience: Minimum of six years of progressively responsible technology/network related support; including one year of supervisory experience or completion of an approved supervisory training program.
Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field

Licenses and Certifications
  • May require a valid North Carolina or South Carolina Driver's License
