Join our team at Mecklenburg County Emergency Services, where we are dedicated to providing immediate emergency medical response to our community. As an EMS Lieutenant, you will be instrumental in leading this critical mission. The Lieutenant willsupervise daily operations at field units; ensure the operational readiness of assigned EMS facilities, equipment, and personnel; collaborate with other emergency services personnel to improve departmental effectiveness; and participate in quality assurance of EMS delivery, reporting, training, and record keeping. Work will be performed under the general direction of the Emergency Services EMS Captain.This position presents an ideal opportunity to help establish and guide the direction of emergency services in the County and an environment to translate leadership ideas into actionable outcomes.
The Lieutenant position requires a High School Diploma or GED. An Associate Degree in emergency medical service, fire science, emergency management, or a closely related field as well as five years of operational level experience in the day-to-day operations of an emergency response EMS system is preferred. A Bachelor’s Degree in emergency medical service, fire science, emergency management, or a closely related field may be substituted for two years of experience.
Special Requirements:
· Valid driver's license with at least three years of valid licensing, no DWI/DUI convictions, and an overall pattern of safe driving habits
· Must meet and maintain a clear criminal background check
· Preferred Virginia EMT-Intermediate or EMT-Paramedic
· Emergency Vehicle Operator Course
· National Incident Management Systems – 100, 200, 700, and 800
