Fleet Manager:

Mears is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Fleet Manager to oversee the management and maintenance of our utility company's fleet of vehicles and equipment. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, equipment maintenance, and fleet management practices. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of our fleet to support the company's mission.

What Do You Offer Us:

  • Administer fleet software program and maintain related files.
  • Communicate and distribute various reports for equipment utilization and tracking.
  • Serve as liaison between company departments regarding fleet matters.
  • Support Area Fleet Coordinators as required.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive fleet management strategies.
  • Oversee procurement, maintenance, and disposal of vehicles and equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with DOT regulations and safety standards.
  • Develop preventive maintenance programs and coordinate repair activities.
  • Maintain accurate records of fleet inventory and implement fleet inventory control measures.
  • Manage fleet budget, analyze costs, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Promote safety culture and conduct regular safety training and audits.
  • Supervise fleet technicians, mechanics, and administrative staff.
  • Cultivate a positive work environment emphasizing teamwork and continuous improvement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Annual salary of $90K to $110K, based on experience.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional certifications in construction are a plus.
  • A valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to stand or walk for extended periods, with repeated lifting (up to 50 lbs.), kneeling, crawling, climbing, and reaching.
  • In-depth knowledge of utility construction methods, proper use of tools and materials, and safety practices.
  • Proficient computer skills and ability to use various software, including experience with fleet management software.
  • Proven experience in fleet management, preferably in the utilities sector.
  • Thorough understanding of DOT regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Strong technical knowledge of vehicle and equipment maintenance practices.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and travel as needed.
  • Fleet programs experience.

Preferences:

  • DOT Medical Card and Class A or B CDL required, if operating a company vehicle.
  • 3-5 years supervisory experience in utility construction.

This position is subject to the Federal Department of Transportation (DOT) drug & alcohol testing regulations as outlined in 49 CFR Part 382 and/or 49 CFR Part 199.
