ME Global is Hiring a Duluth Maintenance and Engineering Manager Near Duluth, MN

Description

Purpose 

Ensure safe operations of the plant. Coordinate, plan, and control Maintenance, Capital Projects, Industrial Engineering, and Process Engineering activities to ensure the preservation and enhancement of all physical assets and processes at the Duluth plant. Direct a staff of maintenance engineers, supervisors, technicians, electricians and process engineers. Responsible for ensuring the plant’s mechanical systems reach their greatest production efficiency. Lead teams to develop creative solutions that achieve ME Elecmetal’s goals in determining and implementing process improvements, capital improvement projects, utilization of sub-contractors, and satisfying all environmental requirements.

Principal Accountabilities

  1. Direct safety and health efforts by planning, organizing, and controlling to meet safety goals and ensure a healthy workplace. 
  2. Ensure the preservation and enhancement of the plant’s mechanical systems and the various components of those systems, including planning, organizing, directing, and controlling all maintenance projects. 
  3. Provide expertise and experience in problem solving and determine potential problems with existing systems, operations and equipment.
  4. Implement plant technical strategies and tactics focused on engineering projects, maintenance, and plant improvement programs that advance plant performance, such as utilizing labor efficiencies in accordance with the operating budget.
  5. Develop, and operate within, the maintenance budget so as to control costs of direct labor, materials, supplies, and equipment.
  6. Develop and implement Capital Improvement Plans.
  7. Participate with other managers and executives in long-range planning and overall management of the plant in accordance with plant and corporate directives. Consult with other managers on quality standards, production control, workplace safety, and human resource issues.
  8. Work collaboratively with corporate engineering staff to ensure that all environmental requirements are satisfied.
  9. Select, develop, and motivate direct reports to effectively perform their respective job functions with a focus on workplace safety, product quality, productivity, cost efficiency, and department goals. Ensure proper departmental training so that assigned personnel perform to established standards and assure management succession.
  10. Ensure that all direct reports properly implement the terms of the labor agreement, to promote the efficient, economical and profitable operation of the company. Participate in labor relations activities, including (but not limited to) contract negotiations, grievance proceedings, and disciplinary matters.
  11. Organize and direct activities of hourly Maintenance Technicians.
  12. Maintain and adhere to ISO standards, including but not limited to the Quality and Environmental Policy Statements as well as the Quality and Environmental Procedures Manual.

Requirements

  • B.S. degree in engineering (ME, EE) required, with 5-8 years engineering, maintenance and supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Effective maintenance management experience.
  • Effective capital improvement experience.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong computer application skills. 
  • Key Leadership/Performance Competencies: Results Oriented, Timely in Quality Decision Making, Able to Set Priorities, Plant Leadership, Effective Time Management and Innovation Management.
