JOB SUMMARY: The SES III contract is seeking a Software Process Improvement Engineer to support the Engineering and Technology Directorate. Successful candidates in this position will collaborate with scientists, engineers, and other subject matter experts to develop and maintain the GSFC software process assets, tools, and training content. Location: This job is located at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, MD and allows for a hybrid work schedule.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

• Identify, develop, and deploy improved software engineering processes and practices, along with supporting work products (policies, processes, procedures, standards, guidelines, templates, tools, etc.) for the NASA Goddard Software Engineering Division, especially in support of meeting NASA's Procedural Requirements for Software Engineering (NPR 7150.2).
• Directly engage with software managers and software practitioners in the Division to help identify and implement software best practices.
• Collaborate with and assist software Product Development Leads to define project plans for meeting the NASA and GSFC expectations for software engineering and project management, using the organization's templates and standards. Incorporate lessons learned from prior missions and approved changes.
• Support the team's sustainment of the Division's processes and templates by writing and reviewing process assets.
• Develop, support, and deliver training material to foster knowledge sharing across the Division.
• Provide expertise in helping individual software projects and the Division toward successful results in periodic assessments based on the NPR 7150.2.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Knowledgeable in software and systems engineering lifecycles, methods, techniques, and tools (for development, operations, and maintenance).
• Familiarity with programming and scripting languages (e.g., C, C , Java, Python)
• Experience with Microsoft Office 365 applications and collaboration tools, and other work management tools (e.g., GitLab)
• Strong written and verbal communications skills.
• Customer-oriented mindset.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a diverse team, in person and virtually.
• Able to handle multiple and changing priorities in a dynamic environment.

RELEVANT EXPERIENCE: 3 years of experience with software engineering / process engineering.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: BA/BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent.

SECURITY CLEARANCE: Ability to obtain National Agency Check Inquiry (NACI) personal background check. US Citizenship required.
