The Events Manager at the Hilton Garden Inn Champaign Urbana will be responsible for preparing, coordinating, and executing consistent, high-level service throughout all phases of property events. Additionally, this role ensures for a seamless turnover from sales to operations and recognizes opportunities to maximize revenue by upselling and offering enhancements to create outstanding events. Responsibilities: Solve problems and suggest alternatives to previous arrangements if necessaryLead pre-event and post-event meetings for assigned groupsIdentify operational challenges associated with groups and works with the property team members and clients to solve these challenges and develop alternative solutions as neededManage client budgets to maximize revenue and meet client needsCoordinate and communicate verbally and in writing with clients and internal departments regarding event detailsBe responsible for the client experience from file turnover through the post event phase until the turnover back to Sales DepartmentSchedule and manage the banquet team, including set up, service, and bar staffManage department inventory and ensure operational needs for events are metCelebrate successes and publicly recognizes the contributions of team members as well as ensure team understands service expectations and standardsUp-sell products and services throughout the event processParticipate in client site inspections and assist with the sales process when neededAct as liaison between salesperson and client throughout the entire event processManage revenue and profitability associated with eventsReview billing and payments with clientsHandle problems and complaints from clientsGreet client during the event phase and execute operational details with the internal teamStrive to improve service performanceSet a positive example for teamAdhere to all standards, policies, and proceduresRequirements: High school degree (or equivalency) with Hotel/College training preferredPrevious Restaurant or Hotel Food and Beverage experience required, banquet experience preferredDelphi experience a plus but not requiredSolid understanding of banquet revenue generation Creative and innovative, as well as proactive and customer-orientedHigh energy and outgoing personalityOrganizational skills and attention to detailDiplomatic team playerExcellent communication skills both written and oralProficient in the use of Microsoft Office, event management software and customer management platformExcellent time management skillsAbility to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environmentAn aptitude for self-motivation A can-do attitude and a hands-on approachA flexible schedule that allows availability early mornings and late nights depending on event schedule and demands of hotel
