MCR is Hiring a Director of Event Sales Near Jamaica, NY

The Director of Event Sales at TWA Hotel will report to TWA Hotel’s Director of Hotel Sales and will be responsible for leading Event Events and for the generation of budgeted top line Event revenue for the hotel through revenue maximization and profit. The ideal candidate is a goal oriented individual with extensive Event sales knowledge. The Event Sales Director will work closely with clientele and banquet staff to produce exceptional events that drive referrals and positive public opinion. He or she must be a highly communicative, meticulously organized team player who possesses a positive, problem-solving attitude and a passion for innovation.Primary Responsibilities: Work closely with sales teams and General Manager to assist in capturing Event business in all segments including corporate transient businessAssist in the training and support of Event Sales Manager and ensure performance in accordance with established standardsHave general knowledge of banquet food service standards and techniquesEnsure knowledge of and adherence to standards by the banquet team to achieve optimal sales service and client retentionDevelop and maintain market awareness to ensure ability to forecast revenue opportunities and create proactive strategiesEstablish individual sales plans and goals for corporate and social Event eventsMonitor and analyze product of top accounts and evaluate trends in market.Independently solicit and book businessNegotiate food and beverage pricing, meeting room rental, and other servicesAssist client in menu planning; coordinate food, beverage, room set up, and other services as requested by clientDetail banquet order details, process client invoices (where applicable)Compile sales reports as required in a timely and accurate mannerMaintain accurate and up to date records of all activity/transactionsLead, train and mentor Event Sales Manager including hiring, coaching development, performing evaluations, disciplinary actions and terminations.Develop marketing plans and evaluate trends to modify strategies that will enhance revenues effectively. Assist in the production of annual hotel business plan.Drive all Event revenues. Ensure the quarterly and annual revenue goals are achieved for the hotel.Maintain a close working relationship with the Director of Food and Beverage, Chef and Banquet Manager.Direct the Event sales effort to ensure revenue maximization with a working knowledge of food and beverage compositions and an understanding of kitchen and banquet service procedures.Ensure that hotel credit procedures and audit guidelines are followed.Maintain good rapport with local civic groups and companies.Ensure quality standards are met in areas of customer service and satisfaction.Use leadership skills in Banquet Event Order Meetings, Pre- and Post-Conference Meetings, Sales Meetings, etc.Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: University or college degree equivalent. Bachelor's degree in in Business Administration, Marketing, Hotel & Restaurant Management, or related major or professional area4 years successful experience in proactive sales & EventAbility to effectively close businessPrevious Director of Event experience is a mustStrong Leader of peopleStrong presentation skillsExcellent writing skills (grammar/punctuation/spelling)Experience in multi-cultural social eventsIntermediate to advanced computer skillsFamiliar with common computer software programs (Microsoft Office)Strong organizational skillsExcellent time management skillsComputer skills and knowledge of industry focused systems such as OPERA, Sales Force & Delphi including proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Apps, OperaAbility to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environmentKnowledge of property operations, Food and Beverage (F&B.). Knowledge of the group sales process and how to close a sale.Team-based selling experience. Ability to handle customer inquiries and leads requests for groups (e.g., Full Service and Selected Service/Extended Stay, 10-99 peak room nights)Demonstrates excellent selling skills, strong communication skills, and a detailed understanding of property operations, food and beverage, and planning. Understands the overall market (e.g., competitors’ strengths and weaknesses, economic trends, supply and demand) and how to sell against them.An aptitude for self-motivation A can-do attitude and a hands-on approach to hotel sales management Strong computer skills A flexible schedule that allows you to be available days, nights, holidays and weekends based on the demands of the hotel
