MCKINLEY HALL is Hiring a Nurse Practitioner Near Springfield, OH

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Supervises, indirectly, all medical staff under the direction of the Medical Director
  • Performs physical examinations, orders and interprets screening test results.
  • Develops and initiates care plans.
  • Consultation, collaboration, medication management and referral
  • Administers the medical portion of the Medication Assisted Treatment Program.
Responsibilities
  • Supervises, indirectly, the nursing staff to ensure operation within scope of practice and within the Medical Director’s protocol.
  • Provides history and physicals for clients at the time of entry into residential treatment and admission to the mental health program.
  • Actively plans and develops treatment programs.
  • Provided routine medical services to clients within the agency’s residential settings as well as outpatient clients.
  • Admit clients into the Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) program and provide initial and ongoing medication orders within established protocols.
  • Monitor clients within the MAT program by seeing them during their treatment episode.
  • Utilizes resources effectively to achieve program and agency goals.
  • Follow commonly accepted medical protocols, OMHAS regulations and CARF standards.
  • Communicates with Medical Director and agency staff regarding any protocol changes in a timely manner.
  • Train staff on medical issues as needed.
  • Manages client care crises on-site or by phone and trains staff on how to handle these issues effectively.
  • Works closely with program coordinators and CEO to maintain a seamless continuum of care.
  • Implements recommendations of the Safety Officer.
  • Complies with Agency, State, accrediting body and funding source requirements and documents compliance.
  • Maintains safe facilities.
  • Facilitates teamwork in operations.
  • Performs public relations functions including participation in speaking engagements and community events.
  • Maintains good relationship with referral sources.
  • Adheres to standards of professional appearance, conduct and ethical behavior.
  • Participates in and/or chairs agency committees as assigned.
  • Informs CEO of important developments in treatment services.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Current State of Ohio RN license, Master’s Degree in Nursing
  • State of Ohio Registered Nurse Practitioner.
  • Experience working as part of an organization’s leadership
  • CARF facility experience preferred
  • Experience in chemical dependency and/or mental health field preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Necessary:
  • Ability to work as a member of a team with excellent communication and listening skills
  • Ability to accomplish multiple projects on time, while managing unexpected events
  • Ability to provide crisis intervention as needed
  • Capable of using crisis de-escalation skills to work with manipulative and demanding clients
  • Demonstration of cultural competency
  • Meet requirements of managed care contractors for service delivery and medical supervision
  • Knowledge of Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) and Ohio Department of Alcohol and Drug Addiction Services (OMHAS) standards
  • Knowledge of special needs of minority populations
  • Gender-specific treatment knowledge as appropriate to program
  • Computer Literacy
Post-offer of Hire Requirements:
  • Negative TB test, and urine drug screen
  • Acceptable criminal background check required.
Post-hire Requirements:
  • Maintain certification/licensure with credentialing board and/or appropriate licensing board.
  • Maintain knowledge of community resources and established contacts
  • Maintain current crisis de-escalation training
  • Participate in annual CPR and First Aid training
  • Comply with safety and infection control standards
  • Acquire training/education for job and self-development as approved by supervisor
  • Obtain cultural competency training as required
  • Understanding of methods of performance improvement and experience applying performance improvement tools
Unusual Working Conditions:
  • Exposure to clients with alcohol and other drug related problems.
  • Potential for exposure to Hepatitis B, Tuberculosis, and other blood borne or airborne pathogen diseases.
