Overview

McKenney’s, Inc. has a fleet of over 600 vehicles between the field, office, trucking, and support staff teams. The Vehicle Program Strategist will be responsible for creating and managing McKenney’s corporate fleet strategy both Atlanta and Charlotte along with managing the procurement of all company vehicles. Additional duties include but are not limited to managing the fleet associate team, advising on fleet safety recommendations, implementing technology changes and process improvements, and supporting fleet managers with issue resolution. Interaction with fleet managers, risk management, safety team, and company leadership will be required.

Responsibilities

Strategic Improvement:

  • Create a 1-year, 5-year, and 10-year fleet strategic plan to keep up with company growth. Design metrics to track successful execution of the strategic plan.
  • Shape fleet strategy to fit into business growth and development goals through analysis of existing shortcomings and potential opportunities.
  • Design and implement policies, procedures, and program guidelines for the fleet program.
  • Manage & own relationships with all fleet vendors, including technology vendors, vehicle sales and maintenance vendors.
  • Measure and assess fleet manager and driver satisfaction and establish targets for improving customer satisfaction.
  • Enable creativity, change, and business growth through creation of a fleet innovation roadmap.
  • Manage safety and financial risk due to fleet through evaluation of existing threats and establishing plans to minimize them.
  • Perform yearly evaluation of existing fleet management company performance and present analysis on all options for improvement.
  • Innovate existing fleet through research of new technologies impacting safety, quality, and productivity of the fleet.
  • Manage fleet MyGoodIdeas program.
  • Design appropriate record keeping system to track inspection, registration, maintenance, and repair of the fleet.
  • Create and maintain good internal customer relations through quarterly updates with fleet leadership, visits to Charlotte office, and interaction with drivers.

Procurement:

  • Gather and analyze data on fleet manufacturing trends and implement strategic procurement plan to avoid supply chain issues.
  • Project vehicle fulfillment needs bi-annually based on analysis of existing fleet performance and projected business growth.
  • Develop vehicle specifications yearly to account for new model year orders changes and vehicle feedback.
  • Manage manufacturer allocation and consumer assistance programs (CAP) yearly.
  • Place orders for all new vehicles and track orders through completion, including upfit, delivery, and inspection before turnover.

Managerial:

  • Provide daily oversight of McKenney’s automotive fleet service.
  • Conduct annual coaching sessions with each member of the fleet team.
  • Design and manage key performance indicators to forecast and analyze vehicle department performance.
  • Develop Professional Development Plans for each member of the team and update quarterly.
  • Perform additional assignments per supervisor’s direction in accordance with department and company goals.
  • Oversee issue resolution on behalf of the fleet managers, vendors, and vehicles department.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in business administration or a related field.
  • Three years of fleet, customer service, transportation, or related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience including experience in a lead or supervisory role.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Positions within this classification may require a valid Georgia driver's license and an insurable driving record.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with Smartsheet.
  • 1-2 years experience with strategic planning.
  • Expert knowledge of the fleet industry.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND CHARACTERISTICS:

  • Computer skills, including PC experience in Window environments with a working knowledge of spreadsheets, e-mail, and web-based applications.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including presentation skills.
  • Effective interpersonal and teamwork skills with internal and external customers.
  • Ability to access, analyze and act to resolve daily and ongoing issues.
  • Ability to initiate process improvements.
  • Self-motivated and team-oriented.
  • Ability to respond quickly to changing customer demands.
  • Ability to use time productively, maximize efficiency, and meet challenging work goals.
  • Ability to maintain attention to detail while completing multiple or repetitive tasks accurately and on time.
  • Ability to take on additional responsibilities as needed as well as determine and manage priorities with minimal guidance.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Must have exceptional work ethic and demonstrate the highest standard of conduct and integrity, while upholding company values.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:

  • Work is performed in an office environment with frequent exposure to outside elements.
  • Work can be exposed to the outside elements.
  • Required to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • This position requires working from the McKenney’s campus in Atlanta.
