Director of Life Enrichment/Activities

What do I need as a Director of Life Enrichment/Activities?

• Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience and/or Activities Director Certification (ADC) or Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS).
• MEPAP I or II.
• Skills in art, music, games, etc.

What will I do as a Director of Life Enrichment/Activities?

• Oversee all functions of the drivers and the transportation department.
• Plan, schedule, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive program of group and individual activities for all residents in The Gardens and for Assisted Living Residents in The McGregor Home.
• Assess and complete the sections of the Minimum Data Set (MDS) assigned completely, timely and accurately; identify and document in the resident's care plan the activity interests, needs, and concerns of the resident.
• Use the CAA's to determine whether to proceed to care planning for concerns related to a resident's activity program needs.
• Coordinate the work of the floor Activity Coordinators; review and evaluate programs developed and implemented by each Coordinator; review and evaluate room visits and in-room activities for residents who are unable or unwilling to participate in group activities; review all documentation completed by Activity Coordinators.
• Document all interaction with residents and/or family members in the assessment, care plan and progress notes as required by federal and state requirements.
• Participate as an active member of the interdisciplinary team and attends resident care conferences.
• Plan and conduct Resident Council Meetings for The Gardens, AL, and SH.
• Oversee all functions of Sophie's Salon (Beauty/Barber Shop) in the Gardens.
• Assist with Resident/Family room reservations at facility for birthday parties, memorial services, or similar programs following specified guidelines of facility; appropriately schedule room reservations and bus trips according to master calendars.
• Ensure that the home's activity program is diverse in both content and schedule, that there are appropriate evening and weekend programs; organizes, that there are community events related to residents' interest, and that the programs stay within department budget.
• Responsible for rotating weekend coverage.
• Establish areas of responsibility for immediate subordinates, give general direction, set up standards of performance, check progress of work. Manage operations; organize and direct staff to ensure adherence to resident, regulatory and organization requirements. Maintain discipline, morale, harmonious personnel relations; advise direct reports regarding employee problems, company policy interpretation, necessary disciplinary actions.
