Description

Objective:

As a Continuous Improvement Technician, your primary responsibility will be to identify, implement, and monitor continuous improvement initiatives within the food production facility. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to streamline processes, optimize efficiency, and ensure compliance with quality and safety standards. Your role will involve analyzing data, identifying areas for improvement, developing action plans, and driving initiatives to enhance operational effectiveness.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Collect and analyze data related to food production processes, quality metrics, and operational performance to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Assist in conducting root cause analysis and problem-solving to address production inefficiencies, quality issues, and safety concerns.
  • Collaborate with production personnel and other team members to implement continuous improvement projects, including process modifications, equipment upgrades, and workflow optimizations.
  • Conduct tests, trials, and experiments to evaluate the effectiveness of proposed process improvements and validate their impact on quality, productivity, and cost.
  • Provide technical support and training to production teams on new processes, equipment, and tools implemented as part of continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Assist in maintaining documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and work instructions related to continuous improvement projects and process changes.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams and meetings to share insights, best practices, and lessons learned from continuous improvement projects.
  • Support the Continuous Improvement Supervisor in developing action plans, tracking project progress, and reporting on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to continuous improvement efforts.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Utilize continuous improvement methodology.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by leadership.

Qualifications


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate degree or technical certification in a relevant field such as Food Science, Engineering Technology, or Industrial Technology. Relative work experience will be acceptable if the qualifications have been met.
  • 2 years food manufacturing experience, strongly preferred.
  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines within specified time constraints.
  • Understanding of GMPs, PC, HACCP, EMP, and USDA requirements
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, interpret, and present data effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate across multiple departments and at different levels of the organization.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Self-efficient with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Experience with problem-solving methodologies such as root cause analysis, DMAIC, or 5 Whys.
  • Experience with Lean Six Sigma or other continuous improvement methodologies is preferred.
  • Familiarity with basic statistical analysis techniques and tools (e.g., Pareto charts, control charts, statistical process control).
  • Proficiency in using productivity software, data analysis tools, and computerized systems for documentation and reporting.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to upholding high standards of quality and safety in food production operations.
  • Ability to work in a refrigerated plant where temperatures are consistently 33 degrees.
