McDugald Steele is Hiring a Purchasing Agent Near Houston, TX
We are now hiring for an experienced Purchasing Agent with landscaping and plant knowledge. We are seeking a motivated individual to oversee our procurement operations, ensuring timely and cost-effective acquisition of materials and equipment. If you're passionate about landscaping and possess strong negotiation skills, attention to detail, and a knack for vendor management, we want to hear from you.
Responsibilities:
•Issue purchase orders to vendors for purchases and to employees making purchases on behalf of company.
•Review statements on a monthly basis.
•Enter detail into purchase orders from employee purchases, match invoices to purchase orders and post purchase orders in Dynamics GP
•Review current vendors and procure new vendors, set up new vendors and provide tax certifications to vendors upon requested.
•Process vendor credit card payments
•Provide pricing and quotes for materials to architects, project managers and estimators
•Request Material photos and specifications from vendors
•Order materials and schedule deliveries following plant procurement process
•Maintain the chemical pricelist
•Run Ad hoc Purchase history reports for Management.
•Nursery site visits
•Work on discounts with suppliers & vendors for lowest prices
•Manage quality/order of plants being purchased/delivered to job sites
•Provide Nursery Trade Feedback valuable to appropriate employees that affect availability and quality.
•Update and maintain McDugald Steele portfolio of suppliers/vendors for all plant material needs
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
•Procurement agent should have a minimum of 5 years of experience.
•A Bachelor’s degree is preferred but not essential.

•Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, with the ability to clearly communicate issues to all levels of management.
•Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload in order to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
•Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
•Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
•Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP is a plus
