Under the direct supervision of the Maintenance Team Manager, this position is responsible for troubleshooting electrical problems that may occur with both Production and Facilities equipment. This position performs electrical tests of equipment and maintenance for electrical devices. Works collaboratively with Operations to improve the productivity and maintenance of equipment. 

Job Duties

  • Ensures that electrical safeguards are in place and functioning properly for all electrical equipment.
  • Performs preventative maintenance and general maintenance on electronic devices, production equipment, and facilities equipment.
  • Writes preventative maintenance work orders
  • Responds to electrical, electronic, and control trouble calls on production/process equipment, utility breakdowns, and work orders.
  • Uses PLC programming tools and can convert relay logic to ladder logic
  • Able to run wiring and conduit while controlling low and high voltage distribution.
  • Works with outside contractors to perform miscellaneous installations, and interacts with outside technical support
  • Performs and documents all electrical tests, such as oscilloscope, DMM, Recorder, Meggar, etc. as well as calibrates and troubleshoots control instrumentation.
  • Writes, updates, and clarifies test procedures.
  • Trains other employees to conduct these tests properly.
  • Able to read drawings, manuals, and schematics to properly troubleshoot equipment.
  • Recommends equipment and control modifications and other changes to improve productivity.
  • Updates drawings and schematics to reflect "as-built" conditions

Experience

  • 3 - 5 years of experience in Mechanic position preferrably in the food industry
  • 5 years Maintenance Mechanic experience with a good working knowledge of automated equipment
  • Experience with control systems (PLC's,HMI's)
  • Experience working with electrical control systems up to 480V
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Strong organizational skills, able to prioritize projects and work orders
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills
  • A good working knowledge of Microsoft office and related applications.
  • Knowledge of NEC (National Electric Code), PLC (Programmable Logic Control), CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System), and OSHA requirements concerning electrical installation
