McCarl's LLC is Hiring a Payroll Accountant (Lebanon, OR) Near Lebanon, OR


General Purpose: Responsible for all payroll-related tasks which include collecting and reviewing employee information and working hours, calculating & issuing payroll tax payments, calculating wages, preparing and processing employee payments, and maintaining accurate payroll records. A successful payroll accountant should be able to investigate and resolve payroll issues and ensure strict compliance with company and regulatory standards as well as demonstrating excellent people skills and a strong organizational aptitude.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Executes weekly payroll processing steps to ensure an accurate, timely payroll across several companies – both union & non-union.
  • Prepare and make weekly tax and garnishment payments.
  • Ensure all electronic employee payroll changes are supported by approved documentation and that all information changed is accurate.
  • Complete all employee new hire system setup and terminations for all union and non-union employees including state or federal reporting requirements.
  • Document scorecards and complete desktop instructions to demonstrate status of performance and add departmental depth to task completion.
  • Interact with all operating and staff departments regarding the accurate collection and recording of basic payroll information.
  • Completes unemployment compensation administration, claim responses, and other related reports.
  • Manage PTO changes, tracking, and reporting.
  • Prepare hours reports and complete other management deliverables.
  • Support and fulfill audit requests.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure payroll has the data it needs to function at a high accuracy level.
  • Able to communicate with internal and external customers verbally or written in a clear, professional manner.
  • Respond to employee and general management inquiries regarding payroll issues through ticketing system.
  • Support preparation and reporting of W-2s as well as providing copies of W2s from requests.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by manager/supervisor.
  • Maintains a high level of confidentiality.
  • Prepare ad hoc reports including system reports, PowerPoint presentations and Excel.
  • Assist with Union Report preparation.
Qualifications:
  • High school education or its equivalent.
  • 1-3 years of payroll or accounting experience
  • Customer service focused.
  • Strong ability in Microsoft Excel and ability to create deliverables.
  • Strong attention to detail and a willingness to document procedures, processes, etc.
  • Basic understanding of HR requirements and interactions with payroll. Strong written and verbal skills.
  • Some knowledge of payroll tax laws and other regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to plan work, tasks, or any other activity required to achieve a goal.
  • Proactive approach to problem solving.
  • Strong communicator & team player.
Physical Requirements:
Will regularly sit, use of hands/fingers, talk/hear. Will occasionally stand, walk, grasp, reach w/ hands/arms, bend/stoop/kneel/squat/crawl. Lift up to 10lbs. Near vision. Ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
Will regularly be in an office. For the most part, ambient room temperatures, lighting and traditional office equipment as found in typical office environment. Moderate noise level. Employees must use personal protective equipment as deemed necessary by the industry/construction safety standards and/or by McCarl’s safety policy and procedures.
