Overview

Maxor is seeking a Director, Security Engineering & Operations to join our growing Security division. The Director of Security Engineering & Operations will play a pivotal role in establishing and maintaining a comprehensive security engineering & operations program that aligns with our business objectives. The Director leads a team of Security Engineers, Cloud Security, and Operations Teams, ensuring the protection of our information systems, data, and infrastructure.

Position Location

This is a remote-based position where you will work from your home office.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the organization's security strategy, aligning it with business goals and industry best practices.
  • Lead, mentor, and motivate the security engineering and operations team, fostering a positive work environment that encourages collaboration, growth, and innovation.
  • Collaborate with leadership to establish security priorities and allocate resources accordingly.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the team's performance, service level agreements (SLAs), and customer satisfaction metrics.
  • Oversee the daily security operations, including monitoring, incident response, and threat detection.
  • Develop and maintain incident response plans, ensuring the organization is prepared for security incidents.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams including managing security incident response, risk assessment, and project implementation.
  • Lead the design and implementation of security solutions, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, encryption, and access controls.
  • Stay current with emerging security threats and technologies and integrate them into the organization's security architecture.
  • Conduct security assessments and penetration tests to identify vulnerabilities and weaknesses.
  • Ensure the organization complies with relevant regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Conduct regular security audits and assessments to identify and address potential weaknesses.
  • Recruit, train, and mentor security professionals, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Set performance expectations and conduct regular performance evaluations for security team members.
  • Manage a security budget, including resource allocation, procurement, and vendor relationships.
  • Ensure cost-effective security solutions while maintaining a high level of protection.
  • Qualifications

    Education:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Security, Information Systems, Computer Science or related field, or equivalent technical/vocational experience is required.

     Experience:

    • Ten or more years experience in Security Engineering and Operations
    • 5 years in a people leadership role.

     Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Industry certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CISA are preferred.
    • In-depth knowledge of security technologies, protocols, and best practices.
    • Possess outstanding communication, customer service, and support skills.
    • Ability to effectively manage challenging circumstances and personnel.
    • Ability to manage a team charged with supporting the organization 24x7x365.
    • Ability to empathize with end-user support challenges and champion end-user needs within the IT Department and across business units.
    • Ability to develop service and business level agreements to set expectations and measure performance. Provide data and reporting of SLA’s and trends to IT department and others in ad-hoc, weekly, monthly, and as needed.
    • Ability to analyze support ticket trends and reports and adjust service levels to the organization.
    • Ability to simultaneously coordinate and complete multiple projects.
    • Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments.
    • Ability to develop internal training plans to enhance support teams knowledge and create growth opportunities.
    • Ability to build and maintain client and internal relationships to drive mutually beneficial solutions and drive positive client experiences
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
    • Proven track record of managing security incidents and breaches effectively.
    • Experience with security compliance and risk management.
    • Experience with public and private cloud technologies and datacenters.
