Job Description:

The Surgical Specialist will be responsible for providing surgical skills, handling human remains and other tissue with adherence to universal precautions, and working with clients that are physicians and engineers in a professional manner. Additionally, the Surgical Specialist must possess proficiency in handling animal remains, including identification of blood vessels and dissection from surrounding tissue, as well as the ability to handle blood and place cannulas proficiently.

Responsibilities:

• Provide surgical assistance with experience in handling human remains and other tissue.
• Adhere to universal precautions and handle human cadavers with dignity.
• Surgically expose vessels of the neck, arms, and legs.
• Operate pumps and cannulation equipment.
• Work professionally with clients that are physicians and engineers.
• Travel to labs throughout the nation on occasion.
• Use surgical equipment and instruments, including electrocautery.

Requirements:

• Must be a Nurse, Nurse First Assistant, Nurse Practitioner, Physician's Assistant, or Surgical First Assistant.
• Familiarity with anatomy.
• Proficiency in handling animal remains, including identification of blood vessels and dissection from surrounding tissue.
• Ability to handle blood and place cannulas proficiently.
• Must be immunized to Hepatitis B, Tetanus, Influenza, COVID, and have a negative TB test.

Work Location:

• The position is based in St. Louis but may require occasional travel to labs throughout the nation.

Pay: $65,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
