Job Summary:

The Training Coordinator is responsible for developing and delivering comprehensive training programs to ensure that forklift technicians possess the knowledge and skills necessary to maintain, repair, and inspect forklift equipment. This role plays a vital part in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our forklift fleet.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assessment & Research

· Identify gaps in technicians’ knowledge and skills by working with Service Managers through technician feedback.

· Stay updated with the latest trends and technologies in forklift repair and maintenance to ensure training remains relevant.

  • Training Program Development:

· Design, develop, and maintain a structured training program for forklift technicians.

· Create training materials, manuals, presentations, and hands-on exercises.

· OEM’s: Work with equipment manufacturers to identify available training resources.

  • Training Delivery:

· Conduct training sessions for new hires and existing forklift technicians.

· Coordinate training schedules and logistics to ensure minimal disruption to daily operations.

· Emphasize safety procedures and safe work practices throughout the training program.

  • Evaluation and Assessment:

· Implement evaluation processes to assess trainee performance and knowledge retention.

· Provide constructive feedback to trainees and recommend additional training or support when needed.

· Regularly update training materials and curriculum to reflect changes in equipment or industry standards.

  • Documentation:

· Maintain accurate records of training activities, attendance, and performance evaluations.

· Generate and distribute training certificates upon successful completion of programs.

  • Regulatory Compliance:

· Stay current with industry regulations and standards related to forklift maintenance and safety.

· Ensure that training programs comply with relevant safety guidelines and regulations.

  • Collaboration:

· Collaborate with the maintenance team and Service Managers to identify specific training needs and areas for improvement.

· Work closely with the Technicians and Service Managers to support talent development and succession planning within the department.

Requirements

Key Competencies:

· Forklift Maintenance Knowledge: In-depth knowledge and experience in forklift maintenance and repair, including the ability to troubleshoot and diagnose issues, conduct routine maintenance, and perform complex repairs.

· Technology: Proficiency in operating a computer, including sending and receiving email messages, updating databases and spreadsheets, word processing, as well as creating spreadsheets, graphics, presentations, and reports.

· Travel: Willingness and capability to travel by ground or air and adapt to flexible working hours across diverse locations as per business demands.

· Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical concepts in a clear and understandable manner.

· Safety Knowledge: Proficiency in safety regulations and best practices related to forklift operations, emphasizing safety throughout training programs.

· Training Delivery: Capability to conduct training sessions, both theoretical and practical, and effectively deliver training content to a diverse group of trainees.

· Assessment and Evaluation: Ability to assess trainee performance and knowledge retention, provide constructive feedback, and recommend additional training or support when necessary.

· Regulatory Compliance: Knowledge of relevant industry regulations and standards, ensuring that training programs are following safety guidelines and regulations.

· Professionalism: Demonstrates professionalism in all interactions, serving as a role model for trainees.

· Motivational Skills: Ability to inspire and motivate trainees, fostering a positive learning environment.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a forklift technician or a similar role, with in-depth knowledge of forklift maintenance and repair.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required. A post-secondary degree or certification in a related field is preferred.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Knowledge of instructional design and training methodologies.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and best practices in forklift operations.
  • Certification as a forklift technician or relevant forklift maintenance training is a plus.
