Summary:

Under the supervision of the Director of Behavioral Health, the applicant will provide outpatient clinic services while assisting with the development of Substance Use Disorder (SUD) treatment in an integrated Medical and Behavioral Health setting. Services include provision of individual, family and group therapies in general mental health and outpatient-based ASAM level services. In addition, the applicant will pursue supervisory status to provide training and supervision as the position and program develop. This position also participates in the agencies after hours on call rotation on a relief basis.

• This position requires compliance with MSHS’ compliance standards, including the Code of Conduct, Compliance Program, and policies and procedures. Such compliance will be an element considered as part of the regular performance evaluation
• Provides individual, family and group therapies in an outpatient setting with mental health, SUD and/or co-occurring focus.
• Able to develop initial diagnosis and treatment plan, based on presenting problems and statement of need.
• Sees consumers in crisis, makes tentative diagnoses, treatment plans, and treatment interventions based on the presenting problems and statements of need.
• Completes documentation that meets professional standards for quality and timeliness.
• Assists with development of SUD treatment services within the agency.
• Provides consultation in an integrated setting to agency providers regarding SUD services and treatment need.
• Develops collaborative relationships with other providers in the Mat Su Valley.
• Reviews curricula and other program materials for clinical appropriateness and approves the acquisition of all new curricula and other programming materials.
• Ensures that counseling staff have been adequately trained in the use of any curriculum being delivered to clients.
• Maintains established performance and conduct standards in accordance with organizational expectations.
• Provides referral to Behavioral Health Services for longer-term treatment, as appropriate. May provide treatment to SED/SNI population as needed.

• Requires sitting, standing, bending, reaching, lifting under 50 lbs., and driving.
• Requires manual dexterity to operate standard office and other equipment.
• Requires normal hearing range, ability to speak, and vision acuity.

Minimum Education and Experience:

• Master’s Degree in Social Work; AK LCSW credential or the equivalent from another State required and able to obtain AK LCSW credential within 90 days of hire.
• Minimum of three years of experience in substance use disorder treatment programs.
• Experience in provision of co-occurring disorder treatment.
• Experience in a community behavioral health setting preferred.
• Experience in coordinating an integrated system of primary care and behavioral health.
• Advanced credentials or certification in substance abuse treatment preferred.

General Requirements:

• Clear background check (subject to DHSS background check)
• Current tuberculosis screening test result
• Current driver’s license; clean driving record history
• Current First Aid and CPR certifications must be obtained within two weeks of hire. CPI (Nonviolent Crisis Intervention) certification must be obtained when offered through the agency; it may substitute the current MANDT certificate for CPI.
