The Associate Director of Financial Aid Awarding and Compliance reports to the Director of Financial Aid and will be primarily tasked with assisting with the leadership, management, and the compliance requirements associated with the processing and delivery of over $20 million in annual financial aid funds.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Supervising, training and managing the workload for a team of professional staff members
  • Coordinating the awarding and administration of federal, state, and institutional financial aid programs in accordance with established federal, state, and institutional regulations
  • Updating and developing processes to enhance efficiency in the awarding process and maintaining compliance with regards to all federal, state, and institutional funding programs
  • Performing all aspects of the awarding process, including federal verification, conflict resolution, loan processing, appeal review, award recalculations, satisfactory academic progress calculations, C-code and ISIR reject resolution
  • Administering aid for modular classes
  • Overseeing R2T4 and state refund processes for official and unofficial withdrawals
  • Administering all aspects of MASSGrant Plus and MassReconnect programs, including determination of eligibility, awarding, award adjustments, reporting, and reconciliation
  • Providing customer service and counseling to students, parents, and the campus community in person, electronically and virtually regarding all aspects of the financial aid process
  • Providing quality control and staff training to strengthen institutional compliance
  • Coordinating the training of new professional staff members
  • Communicating regularly with Student Central "one-stop-shop" staff to provide financial aid office updates, share financial aid policies and procedures, and to provide trainings as needed
  • Assisting Director in staying current on federal and state regulations, and implementing policies and procedures that reflect institutional and/or regulatory changes
  • Developing, updating, and maintaining web content
  • Updating and maintaining policies and procedures manual
  • Updating and maintaining financial aid forms and publications
  • Assisting the Associate Director/Systems Manager with Banner processes, including importing ISIRs, batch posting requirements, generating letters, loan processing, system testing and the annual system set-up and related procedural changes
  • Representing the Financial Aid Office at internal and external recruiting and informational events, student orientations, as well as on and off campus meetings in lieu of the Director. May require occasional public speaking.
  • Focuses on the Commonwealth's Equity Agenda by applying related best practices throughout all job functions
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Job Requirements:


Required qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Education, Business Administration, Accounting, Human Services, or related field; with at least 5 years of progressively responsible experience in financial aid administration; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Must have demonstrated extensive knowledge of Title IV regulations and programs
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Must be able to work effectively in a culturally diverse environment under minimal supervision
  • Willingness to work nights or weekends, as needed
  • Ability and willingness to work at other Massasoit campuses/instructional sites.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Banner system or similar student information system
  • Experience working at a community college
  • Experience administering Massachusetts State financial aid programs
  • Previous supervisory experience in higher education
  • Demonstrated experience performing federal R2T4 calculations
  • Experience administering aid and performing federal R2T4 calculations for modular classes

Additional Information:


Position Status:
Non-unit professional, full-time, state-funded with benefits.

Hours: 37.5 hours a week, Monday - Friday. This position may be eligible for telework in accordance with the College's telework policy.

Salary: $69,350-$90,000, commensurate with education and experience.

Worksite: Assignments will include all Massasoit sites and additional locations as necessary.
