The Director of the Grants Department helps faculty and staff obtain external funding that supports the college's mission, strategic plan, and programs. The Director is responsible for working collaboratively with proposal teams and guides all aspects of grant development, including concept formation, alignment with MCC's mission and the strategic plan, establishment of measurable outcomes, budget development, proposal writing, submission, reporting, and assessment.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Oversee all aspects of the Grants Department to drive impactful and sustainable funding initiatives.
  • Supervise, develop, mentor, train and motivate staff to elevate the overall proficiency level of the department.
  • Provide guidance to ensure project activities, schedules and budget objectives are obtained.
  • Approve grant requests and submit proposed grant initiatives to the Vice President of Academic Affairs and President for approval.
  • Prepare executive level project reports and present project performance updates to senior management, Board of Trustees, and other stakeholders.
  • Research, analyze and synthesize potential funding sources and make recommendations for programming and grant opportunities.
  • Work collaboratively with the College's Advancement Department and the Massasoit Community College Foundation to develop contacts and foster positive relationships to meet the funding needs of the College.
  • Develop grant proposals and final reports as mandated by the funding provider, and/or offer support.
  • Provide grant workshops and informational sessions for faculty and staff.
  • Create and/or collaborate with the Communications staff to design press releases and events for grant projects.
  • Collaborate with Institutional Research and project staff to collect and interpret assessment measures, producing reports, including planning, quality improvement, and outcomes assessment.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in program administration and coordination and/or grant research and writing experience.
  • Evaluation and assessment experience.
  • Familiarity with funding through corporations, foundations, and government agencies.
  • A broad understanding of the student success and academic effectiveness strategies in higher education.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Perform as a team and project leader.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree
  • Excellent conceptual, writing, organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of and experience in grant development and management.
  • Ability to think strategically and advocate for support
  • Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, administrators, funding agency representatives, and grant staff from other institutions.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong research capabilities, budgeting and quantitative skills
  • Handle multiple tasks and meet strict deadlines by balancing competing priorities.
Additional Information:

Non-Unit Professional, full time, state funded with benefits.

Hours: 37.5 hours a week, Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m. with a hybrid schedule option

Salary: $77,207-$100,367 annually based upon education and experience

Worksite: Primary office is located at the Brockton campus
