Location: Brockton, MA Category: Professional Posted On: Wed Nov 1 2023 Job Description:

Under supervision of the Academic Resource Director, the Coordinator primarily coordinates the daily activities of our branch location on the Canton Campus. The candidate works collegially and collaboratively with faculty, staff, tutoring staff and administrators to develop and implement an effective academic support system to assist students in achieving academic success and equal access on Massasoit's Canton campus.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Supervise operations of the Academic Resource Center's Canton branch
  • Recruit, hire and train peer, paraprofessional, and professional tutors and computer assistants
  • Supervise clerical support staff
  • Collaborate with Brockton ARC staff to align tutoring practice and philosophy
  • Collaborate on design and implementation of tutor professional development program and certification
  • Assist in the development and management of departmental budget
  • Develop and implement department policies and procedures
  • Create and enhance additional student resources, such as workshops and educational handouts
  • Serve as liaison for Access and Disability Resources on the Canton campus
  • Market/publicize Center's services to students and faculty/staff
  • Compile, maintain and manage data and statistics reflecting progress, trends, use of services, service effectiveness and recommendations for future planning
  • Perform College service, in the forms of student advising and participation in academic committees and programs, professional meetings and professional development
  • Focus on the Commonwealth's Equity Agenda by applying related best practices throughout all job functions
  • May require working some evening hours
  • Occasional travel to Massasoit's Brockton and/or Middleboro campuses
Job Requirements:
  • Master's degree in Education, Counseling, Sociology, or closely related field
  • 5 years of experience and/or training that includes academic advisement, academic placement, counseling, or program/project management; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3 years of tutoring or teaching experience
  • Ability to develop consensus and work effectively as a team member
  • Strong problem solving, leadership, organizational skills and oral/written communication skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to working with a diverse population
  • Commitment to community college mission
  • Experience in post-secondary disability services
  • Computer proficiency

Position Status:
Full-time benefited Massachusetts Community College Council (MCCC) position of Academic Coordinator. For classification specification details please follow this link: https://www.mass.edu/forfacstaff/classificationspecs/home.asp.

Hours: 37.5 hours a week

Salary: $63,607.75 - $72,258.71, Grade 6. Salary is commensurate with education, experience and based on the MCCC Classification Study.

Worksite: Assignments will include all Massasoit sites
