Massachusetts General Hospital is expanding its Ambulatory Surgery Center in Waltham. An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Senior Biomedical Equipment Technician ( BMET ) to create a two-tech in-house program for a facility with ten ORs and many specialty clinics and ambulatory care areas. The candidate will be based in Waltham and will be a part of the Perioperative Clinical Engineering team at the main MGH campus.
GENERAL SUMMARY/OVERVIEW STATEMENT:
Maintains and assists in management of medical equipment by installing, calibrating, repairing, and inspecting medical equipment and solving complex technical problems in the field. Coordinates evaluations and installations of equipment. Assists in developing procedures. Identifies system problems. Teaches clinical and technical staff basic repair and troubleshooting.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
May work in clinical or repair facility with exposure to biological contamination, e.g., blood, and hazardous electrical or mechanical energy, e.g., high voltage. Periodic lifting of heavy objects, typically not exceeding 75 pounds/person.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
No specific supervision required but may direct and/or facilitate activities of BMETs.
FISCAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintains accurate and current records of equipment activities and inventory and replacement parts.
