Massachusetts Bay Community College is Hiring a Special Programs Coordinator (Part-Time) Near Wellesley Hills, MA

Located in Greater Boston, MassBay is a comprehensive, open-access community college offering associate degrees and certificate programs on three campuses in Wellesley Hills, Framingham, and Ashland, Massachusetts.
Position Summary:

The ideal candidate will join a vibrant and inclusive educational community and have a desire and ability to work with a diverse population. This is a part-time position with no benefits.

Reporting to the Director of Accessibility Resources, the Special Program Coordinator will develop a program to provide comprehensive behavioral and coaching support for neurodivergent students. The coordinator will identify student needs and goals and create a plan to develop critical skills needed for college success. This is a part-time (18 hours per week) grant-funded position funded through June 30th, 2024.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Provide individualized coaching on social skill development, including navigating the classroom and college environment;
  • Provide support with development of emotional regulation skills;
  • Provide students with support in the classroom on an as-needed basis;
  • Provide training and support to faculty and in developing strategies in working with students in the classroom;
  • Consult with staff to develop strategies to effectively work with students across campus offices;
  • Provide workshops that focus on skills such as (but not limited to) social skills, communication, emotional regulation, and self-advocacy;
  • Develop and and implement research-based social skills programming for neurodivergent students and support students in accessing college-wide programming;
  • Develop and implement a Peer Mentoring program for neurodivergent students;
  • Connect students with available resources at the college;
  • Utilize technology to accurately track student progress, maintain student files, and keep student records;
  • Maintain confidentiality of student information;
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Engage in conversations with colleagues and students regarding best practices within the discipline or programmatic related to equity and inclusion.

This list is not to be considered all-inclusive. A supervisor may assign other duties as required to meet the needs and foster the mission of the College.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology, Business Administration, Mathematics, Computer Science, or other field related to area of assignment; with three (3) years experience and/or training involving area of assignment, which may include college registration, academic advisement, career development, career experience, training, curriculum development, audio/visual or graphic production, grant administration, budget development, program/project management, event planning, administrative work in an academic environment, or personal computer operations; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Sensitivity and commitment to the goals of Affirmative Action and workforce diversity;
  • Experience working in a diverse environment;
  • Demonstrated commitment to working with underserved students;
  • Experience working with individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder, learning disabilities, or mental health conditions, preferably in higher education;
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Comfortable with video conferencing, online learning platforms and general office applications.

$35 per hour
