Mass General Brigham is Hiring a Biostatistician I Near Boston, MA

Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) Biostatistics is seeking Biostatisticians to join our team working on a variety of research projects including clinical trials and observational studies. Potential projects include, but are not limited to:

  • a multi-center, multi-regimen, NIH-sponsored RECOVER project, a national longitudinal study on COVID-19 "long-haulers"
  • Randomized trials in cancer supportive care and psychiatry/psychology

Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) is the largest research hospital in the United States with an annual research budget of approximately one billion dollars. The mission of MGH Biostatistics is to engage in impactful transdisciplinary partnerships involving quantitative methods in public health and biomedicine. The Biostatistics team includes over 70 members (22 faculty) who are deeply embedded in collaborative research projects across over 25 Divisions and Departments at MGH and beyond including cancer, cardiology, general internal medicine, global health, neurology, pediatrics, psychiatry, pulmonary and critical care medicine, and surgery.

Specific duties of the Biostatistician I include collaborating with clinical investigators under the direction and supervision of senior biostatisticians to:

Understand scientific issues, identify and derive required variables, and formalize analysis plans

Conduct statistical analyses of data from clinical trials and observational studies, generally according to pre-specified plans

Generate reports of study progress, including reports for data and safety monitoring boards

Develop programs to perform robust data manipulation and error detection to ensure data integrity

Assist senior statisticians with manuscript preparation and review

Assist in the design of clinical studies and review protocols for statistical considerations

Assist in the development of case report forms and study databases

MS/MA in Biostatistics, Statistics, or related field; or MPH with focus in Biostatistics/Epidemiology and one year of professional experience preparing and analyzing data from clinical studies

Strong background in statistical programming using SAS or R

Strong communication skills including proficiency in written and spoken English

Excellent attention to detail
