We have an opportunity for a top candidate to join Maryville College’s staff as the new Resident Director and Coordinator of Student Outreach.

This position will coordinate with students of concern concerning food insecurity, mental health emergencies, financial emergencies, unmet accommodations, etcetera. This position will work closely with the Coordinator of Housing Operations to navigate the needs of students during Break Housing. Additionally, they will work closely with the Disabilities Office to oversee, communicate, and improve the Housing Accommodations throughout the year. In this capacity, they will conduct assessment, ordering, and organizing of Scots Supplies which will include working to plan for higher need periods of time and effort to secure supplies through collaborative donations, etc.,

Your primary job duties and responsibilities would include:

  • Assist with the selection, training, of Resident Assistants (RAs)
  • Provide assigned RAs with hall-specific orientations, staff development training programs
  • Ensure updated and timely communications with RAs
  • Monitor the use and condition of facilities in the residence hall including common areas and student rooms; supervise room inspections and regularly walk the building to assess fire safety and maintenance protocol
  • Maintain accurate and up to date records relative to the residency of each student; maintain student emergency information; coordinate room changes and consolidation
  • Interpret institutional policies and procedures and both serve as a liaison and advocate for students, staff, and judicial board; assess and implement best practices when navigating in hall enforcement with a restorative justice lens
  • Maintain accountability practices among RAs that are equitable and follow through with disciplinary procedures as needed
  • Serve in an on-call rotation as Staff Member on Duty and respond quickly and with the ability to make responsible decisions in emergency situations and communicate with student staff, staff, and emergency service workers.
  • Attend professional staff meetings
  • Serve and coordinate within the conduct process as necessary
  • Coordinate with Camps and Conferences/Summer Housing schedule while working during summer

Minimum qualifications for this job required are:

Education required to ensure success in this position:

  • Master's degree preferred with a specialization in Higher Education, College Student Personnel, or closely related field such as Social Work.

Experience required to ensure success in this position:

  • Residence Life/Housing experience required.
  • Understanding and ability to incorporate diversity, equity, and inclusion into position.
  • Experience with student housing operations/conduct/community building preferred.

Special skills, knowledge and abilities:

  • Competency and aptitude with operational systems.
  • Demonstrated strong oral and written communication skills.
