Our practice is looking for an energetic person to join our team under the supervision of the Optical/Sales department at Maryland Eye Care Center, Hyattsville, MD, this valued Optician will provide assistance to the patients and providers to manage the flow of the clinic.

*Essential Duties and Major responsibilities:*
Assist patients in the selection of eyeglass frames

Choose appropriate lens materials for eyeglass prescriptions

Accurately measure pupillary distances

Accurately measure segment heights for multifocal lenses

Recommend and/or choose, when deemed appropriate, lens add-on such as anti-glare and photochromic lenses.

Ability to adjust eyeglasses and perform minor repairs such as replacing nose-pads

Bill for services including: lens materials, repairs, and dispensing of eyeglasses using the EMR

Work is of medium demand; may include walking, standing, reaching and handling of instruments while assisting patients

Near visual acuity to select glasses, fit glasses, measure for eyeglasses.

Understanding that patient care is a team effort that involves clinical and non-clinical staff interacting with patients

Demonstrate understanding and commitment to the vision and mission of the practice.

Perform other job related duties as required

*Minimum Qualifications:*
High School Diploma or GED required

ABO certification

Previous experience preferred, but willing to train the right candidate.

Bilingual in Spanish required.
Computer skills for accurate data entry

Demonstrated interpersonal relationship skills.

Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced medical office environment.
