Maryland Association for Secondary School Principals is Hiring an Executive Director Near Berlin, MD

Position Summary:

In collaboration with the President, Officers, and Executive Board, the Executive

Director shall be responsible for organizing and coordinating administrative and member

services, facilitating communication between the MASSP and the National Association

of Secondary School Principals (NASSP). The Executive Director will regularly

communicate with various professional organizations while advocating for legislation

when appropriate, and meeting with Maryland legislators, as needed.

Salary: Up to $75,000 based on expertise, knowledge, and skills.

QUALIFICATIONS: At the time of application, the candidate must possess the following:

1. Master’s degree from an accredited institution.

2. Demonstrated leadership in education with at least fifteen (15) years of

educational administrative experience including at least ten (10) years as a

Pre-K-12 school building-level administrator or district level administrator.

3. Demonstrated outstanding interpersonal skills with the ability to work with

people from diverse backgrounds.

4. Outstanding references related to school administration.

5. Expertise at the local (MASSP) or national level (NASSP), preferred.

Duties and Responsibilities include:

These are intended only as examples of the various types of job duties to be performed. The

● Promotes MASSP Mission and Vision;

● Supervise recruiting and manage MASSP memberships by working with the counties

and schools of the State of Maryland;

o Includes traveling mainly the state of Maryland and for the NASSP Conferences,

and other Advisory/ Advocacy Conferences that may arise;

● Organize and educate members on the latest legislation and upcoming legislation.

● Coordinate and report on the association activities;

● Facilitate committee work of the association activities;

● Handle administrative business of the association;

● Assist the editor in producing and distributing the communication to members;

● Assist the webmaster in maintenance of the website and social media accounts;

● Represent MASSP at the State Board of Education meetings;

● Assist in leadership transition;

● Assist in the development of effective processes to meet current and future needs of

the Association;

● Assist in giving direction to, and evaluating, MASSP staff (bookkeeper, Membership

Coordinator);

● In accordance with the treasurer, assist the managing and maintaining finances of the

organization;

● Provide office space for storage of Association equipment, furniture, records, telephone

and accessories;

● Maintain files of reports made by all committee chairpersons;

● Serve as an advisor to the Executive Board and its committees;

● Provide a collaborative work environment where the association policy, goals, and

objectives are at the forefront;

● Foster good working relationships with elected officials of various professional

organizations;

● Coordinate MASSP activities with NASSP expectations as outlined in the “Unified

State” agreement.

Job Location: Remote work, with meetings in-person regularly
