PURPOSE :
To work as a function of the Recruiting Department at the terminals by performing duties essential to Recruiting and Hiring new Drivers.
RESPONSIBILITIES :
1. Have broad knowledge of Marten Transport, Ltd. to enable the conveyance of that information to new driver hires.
2. Work with auditors using hiring criteria to determine qualifications and suitability for employment as a Marten driver.
3. Coordination of the orientation classes, including scheduling and monitoring of current and future programs.
4. Have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs for use in position.
5. Oversee drivers in completion of drivers in Orientation process to ensure new hires are meeting both Marten Transport and DOT standards.
6. Coordinate presentations to class weekly via videos, modules and department presenters.
8. Provide support to terminal and corporate staff as needed.
9. Aid in retention of drivers by assisting in resolving issues as they arise.
10. Facilitate testing for sleep apnea and track inventory.
11. Other duties as assigned.
RELATIONSHIPS :
Ability to work with all levels of employees, including a new hire class each week.
ABILITIES / SKILLS REQUIRED :
Strong verbal and written communication skills with a strong emphasis on classroom presentation. Extensive Knowledge of all aspects of orientation presentations.
EDUCATION / TRAINING REQUIRED :
Four year college degree in business or transportation or an Associate degree with two or more years experience in the transportation industry or appropriate job experience may be substituted.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :
Sitting / Standing for long periods manual dexterity, light lifting, stooping, bending, listening and speaking abilities.
