Description

Join Marshall as the Junior IT Systems Administrator, a hands-on role responsible for providing technical support in a dynamic Mixed Windows and Linux environment. This role involves offering assistance to both internal and remote users, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring the optimal performance of workstations and networks. 

This role requires working closely with end users in support of Linux and Windows based workstations and servers. You will be a member of an 11-person multi-disciplined IT team and be a direct part of the Systems & Support Team. Your time will be divided equally between end user support and systems administration. 

As part of the IT team, the Junior IT Systems Administrator works closely with the Network & Communications, Systems & Support, Cybersecurity, and Application Solutions teams.

Support
-Sets up and configures desktop computers, peripherals.
-Troubleshoots, diagnoses problems, implements corrective action procedures within prescribed guidelines and/or escalates to other technical resources as appropriate.
-Administers (Create, change, and delete) user accounts.
-Provides basic troubleshooting, repair and maintenance for computer equipment (e.g. microcomputers, disk drives, and laser printers) and may assist with testing personal computers and peripherals on a network to diagnose, hardware versus software problems.
-Acts as a customer liaison for the computing operation, communicating, resolving, and/or initiating the resolution of problems and concerns.

Systems Administration
-Configure, troubleshoot, and maintain desktop and server platforms. Operating systems supported include CentOS 8, Windows Server 2019, Azure, Windows 10, Windows 11, Android Enterprise.
-Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs.
-Provide daily support and maintenance of servers as well as problem resolution, tracing, PowerShell & Unix scripting, and project support
-Help perform regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions. 

-Perform daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media, recovery tapes or disks are created, and media is recycled and sent off site as necessary.
-After-hours support is required for maintenance and patching when needed

Maintenance 

-Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure/add new services as necessary.
-Upgrade and configure system software that supports infrastructure applications or Asset Management applications per project or operational needs.
-Maintain operational, configuration, or other procedures.

Requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and at least three to five years of related work experience
Knowledge of Red Hat or CentOS Linux
Knowledge of Windows Server 2019 or later. Window 10 and Windows 11 operating systems. 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
The following qualifications are not required but will be considered favorably:
Experience with Linux scripting
Experience with Active Directory including Group Policy, LDAP backend, and Replication
Experience with Azure AD and the Microsoft 365 Suite
Industry related Certifications

Working Conditions:

This position is primarily performed indoors in an office environment. 

Hours are Monday - Friday 8a-430p, with a hybrid Office/work from home option. 

This position is a grade E3 with a salary range of $61,577.23-$92,365.84.
