Barrier Technicians are hard-working, independent workers up on their feet providing the best possible treatment and care we can give to our animals! You will work in our barrier facility, designed to protect the animals from disease exposure and/or contamination. 

The shift is 7:00 am -- 3:30 pm, M-F with weekend rotations.

This position is a grade N3 with a pay range of $17.74 - $26.61/hour. 

Essential Tasks include:

Perform technical duties that relate to breeding, farrowing, animal health care and shipping. Some examples of these are vaccination, ear tagging, treating, neonatal care, grading, hoof trimming, blood collection, socialization, and acclimation of animals for order requirements. 

Perform routine duties that relate to general husbandry. Some examples of these are moving and regrouping animals, pen changes, diet changes, washing pens, manure removal, and entry and decontamination of diet. 

Move and regroup animals as directed by their supervisor in an accurate and expeditious manner. 

Identify unhealthy pigs and effectively report any health concerns to the Minipig supervisor. 

Assist in cleaning and other duties as specified by management. 

Work Conditions: 

Conditions are often hot and humid, with frequent animal contact. The work area has a high level of noise. PPE is required inside of all barriers. Position requires individuals to shower (water and air) prior to entering the barrier and wearing company provided clothing along with a n95 mask.

Physical Requirement: 

Work is physically demanding with a requirement to lift animals. Position may require operation of motorized vehicles.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED 

To work in the barrier, you will need to have received your flu shot or be willing to get one, prior to starting employment. 

Please note to meet biosecurity requirements you cannot have other contact with pigs, poultry, ruminants, birds, wild game or livestock (except horses).
