ABOUT THE ROLE :

The Regional Claims Director provides strategic direction and leadership for MMA Southeast region’s claims consulting strategy.

This role will be key to developing and executing strategic plans to meet business objectives by :

  • Building a high performing Claims Consulting organization through hiring, monitoring, coaching, developing and mentoring claims consultant colleagues.
  • Establishing strong internal and external relationships that establish MMA Southeast as a valued partner in claims advocacy and resolution.
  • Providing quality claims consulting and advocacy services to our clients across the Southeast region.
  • Developing claims management procedures and establish protocols for successful claims resolution across all lines of business through delegation, escalation or direct involvement.
  • Conducting periodic claims review sessions with key clients and presenting capabilities to prospective clients.
  • Partnering with Producers to manage claims relationships with carrier partners, regional peers and third party consultants and providing guidance on our claims advocacy service, providing suggestions and recommendations to adjusters to assist with claims resolutions, developing claims management strategies with clients and documenting activity.
  • Advocating for clients throughout the claims process to help clients reduce the cost of claims and provide clients with the necessary information to determine the best claims management approach for their organizations.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO :

Leading and Developing a High Performing Claims Consulting Practice

  • Managing the regional claims resources either directly or through a matrixed relationship
  • Attracting, coaching and developing talent within the Claim function such that the objectives of the Claims organization are executed and aligned with the regions values.
  • Providing technical advice, direction and mentoring to Claims colleagues.

Performing Claims Consultations for MMA Clients

  • Managing complex negotiations and influencing insurers to ensure that Claims engagements with clients and insurers result in maximum likelihood of favorable client (and departmental) outcomes.
  • Performing assigned key client work and consistently meeting the monthly key client deadline.
  • Preparing and coordinating in-person and telephonic claims reviews with the carriers, producers and clients.
  • Being able to explain and recommend post claims management strategies to internal and external clients.
  • Understanding and explaining cost analysis for claim decisions.
  • Researching and monitoring external landscape to identify developments and translate them into operational implications for the company (e.

g., legislation impacting claims processing, regulations impacting business operations and QA standards).

Maintaining Relationships with Insurance Carriers and Vendors

  • Coordinating, conducting and participating in appropriate meetings to ensure proper activities are being performed to meet goals.
  • Communicating and building relationships with key legal partners to our client base to maintain high level of trust and communication
  • Communicating with insurance carriers to develop special handling instructions for clients. Working with carrier to achieve best communication between all parties.

Acting as an Advisor / Consultant for Producers on sales calls / meetings with clients.

  • Participating in prospect and client calls / meetings as required.
  • Providing Claims Management expertise to producers on client specific issues, meeting directly with the client in support of the producer when needed.
  • Participating in speaking engagements and other opportunities to improve MMA brand awareness.

QUALIFICATIONS :

  • 12 years of claims experience with 5 years leading a claims department required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field required. J.D., AIC, ARM, CIC or CRM equivalent preferred.
  • Deep knowledge of Management Liability lines of business and Cyber, contractual policy language requirements and the implications of that language as it pertains to coverage or denial of claims.
  • Must be detailed with good interpersonal skills and high sense of urgency.
  • Ability to think critically in a fast-paced environment and appropriately solve problems, effectively communicate and embrace new challenges.
  • Ability to effectively build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, regional colleagues and peers.
  • Requires ability to influence others to accept practices and approaches, and ability to communicate and influence executive leadership.
  • Analytical skill necessary to understand complex claims and lawsuits to determine if and where insurance coverage is triggered.
  • Ability to evaluate insurer’s claims decisions to determine if appropriate and to advocate for clients when necessary.
  • Ability to successfully negotiate claims as effectively and efficiently as possible.
  • Ability to motivate and coach claims colleagues.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of applications required.
  • 15% - 30% travel may be required.

Applicants must live in the Metro Atlanta area and have the ability to commute a minimum of three days per week.
