Patient Types:

• General Med Surg - Wound care needs, dialysis, hyperbaric patients, CIWA, GI bleeds, Tele monitoring, Covid

Patient Ratios:

• RN: Day - 1:4-5; Night - 1:5-7
• Tech: Day - 1:5-6; Night - 1:7-8

Required Certifications:

• RN: BLS, ACLS

Skills Required:

• Required: Cardiac rhythm interpretation, wound care, chest tubes, wound vacs, drains
• Preferred: Will be helpful if travelers could occasionally perform charge duties (night shift only)

Support on the Unit:

• Charge nurse – takes a patient load
• Unit secretary, days and eves
• Hospitalist, 24/7
• RT, 24/7
• Phlebotomy 24/7
• Wound Care Team during day

Charting System/Equipment:

• EPIC – preferred
• Alaris
• Pyxis

Floating:

• all other MedSurg areas
• ED Holding – 1:4 ratio
• Travelers are first to float
• Orientation:
• 1-2 shifts based on comfort level; with preceptor.

Scheduling:

• Weekend rotation: every other
• Can we approve time off? Go through manager
• On Call: none
• Holiday Expectations: 1 summer, 1 winter
• Client adheres to a “fatigue policy” where all staff, including travelers, cannot work more than 60 hours in a week or 5 consecutive 12 hour shifts
• Parking: Free

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $60.00 - $70.00 per hour

Expected hours: 36 per week
