Mariposa CalWORKs Behavioral Health Services Counselors provide culturally competent outpatient behavioral health services and psychoeducation to participants of the Orange
County Social Services Agency California Work Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids
Program (CalWORKs), The county’s welfare-to-work program services families with dependent children. Mariposa’s CalWORKs program aims to increase the family’s capacity for self-sufficiency by offering behavioral health services to address and overcome barriers to employment.

Essential Duties include, but not limited to:

  • Conducts intakes and comprehensive initial assessments of clients, provides diagnosis and develops client centered care plans.
  • Provides mental health and substance use treatment, to support whole-person, integrated care, supporting family self-sufficiency and empowerment.
  • Conducts/facilitates group counseling sessions utilizing various modalities; process- oriented, curriculum-based, and/or psycho-educational, with various topics such as symptom management, stress management, relationship management, wellness recovery, and parenting skills.
  • Attends and actively participates in individual and group clinical supervision.
  • Seeks clinical consultation throughout the treatment episode and maintains frequent communication with the treatment team.
  • Provides psycho-educational services to promote client educational and vocational goals.
  • Refers and transitions clients to the appropriate community resources based on client’s needs and goals.
  • Reviews emails and electronic health records daily and responds within designated policies.
  • Participates in treatment team planning meetings and staff meetings as required.
  • Provides collaborative consultation to community partners for coordination of care.
  • Communicates collaboratively with all staff, clients, and community partners.
  • Completes and maintains timely administrative and treatment documentation related to client care, in accordance with standards specified by Mariposa policies, clinical standards, and oversight agencies, including Orange County Health Care Agency, Orange
  • County Social Services Agency CalWORKs Program, and the California Department of

Health Care Services).

  • Maintains and ensures compliance with HIPAA, professional boundaries, and professional ethical standards.
  • Maintains weekly productivity requirement of 25 direct service hours toward client care.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Carries a caseload of 35 clients.

Reports to: Program Administrator, Program Director

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE & LICENSING REQUIREMENTS

  • Master’s degree from accredited school in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or related field.
  • Must be registered as an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist, Associate

Professional Clinical Counselor, or Associate Clinical Social Worker and maintain good standing with the Board of Behavioral Sciences during employment. Proof of education/BBS registration are required.

  • Experience in treating co-occurring disorders and providing trauma-informed treatment.
  • Minimum of one year experience in mental health and substance use treatment, including individual and group treatment services.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED TO PERFORM THE ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Excellent organization skills and ability to multi-task, including ability to effectively prioritize duties to meet clinical and administrative program requirements.
  • Ability to work independently, and with others, while maintaining a high level of ethical and professional practice in accordance with agency and community partners’ policies.
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to changing work environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Strong clinical and interpersonal skills, and excellent verbal and written skills
  • Intermediate computer skills required.
  • Minimum 2 years sobriety if recovering from substance use.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • Position is subject to background clearance including Live Scan.
  • CPR certificate and TB test required.
  • Salary Range: Generally starting at $31 - $33 per hour. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, experience, education, specialty, and training.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $30.00 - $33.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
