Marion Health is Hiring a Medical Assistant Near Marion, IN

Job SummaryUnder the direction of the practitioner, maintains examination rooms and back office area, interacts with patients, obtains clinical history and performs tests as directed by the practitioner. Assures completeness of ordered procedures and treatments, assures smooth patient flow, performs general lab work as needed, administers injections, instructs patients concerning procedures, treatments and needs, and ensures medical orders and referrals are carried out accurately and in a timely manner. Performs registration and scheduling activities per organizational and department procedures. Maintains EMR files and performs general front office functions as needed. Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Job Requirements
  • High school diploma or its equivalent;
  • M.A. vocational training program or equivalent training -or-
  • M.A. experience for at least two (2) years in a clinical medical office setting; -and-
  • CPR certification or must obtain at next available class upon hire.
  • TB certification or must obtain at next available class upon hire.
Preferred Job Requirements
  • CCMA certification

  • Excellent communication skills to effectively and tactfully communicate with patients and their families and guests, co-workers, managers, providers and other hospital personnel on a one-to-one basis using appropriate grammar, vocabulary and word usage.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary in order to carry out duties in a professional manner, as well as the ability to work well under stress.
  • Ability to problem solve and work well in a team environment.
  • Basic computer skills and the ability to learn and proficiently perform computer applications related to department operations and job function.
  • Excellent customer service skills with special emphasis on patient centered care.
  • Ability to be discreet and protect the integrity of any confidential matter or information encountered during the performance of job duties.
  • Ability to promote compassion and a therapeutic environment.
  • Basic working understanding of the concepts of infection control principles to prevent the spread of infection to patients, self and others.
  • Ability to react appropriately to any environment or situation.
  • Ability to manage several assignments simultaneously and appropriately prioritize based on caseload and patient needs.
Working Conditions
  • Typical clinical office environment with frequent standing and walking.
  • Work subject to interruptions and occasional high stress levels.
  • Risk for occupational exposure to blood and other potentially infectious, electrical and radiation hazards.
  • Works with protected health information.
  • Works in close proximity to patients and visitors.
  • Ability to work occasional extended hours, based on the needs of the practice and flexibility to work at other practice locations.
Physical and Mental Activities, Tools and Equipment
  • Standing, walking, stooping, bending, lifting, pushing and pulling to provide patient care and to utilize patient care devices necessary to perform duties in a safe manner.
  • Ability to use equipment found in patient room or nursing area.
