Marine Corps Community Services is Hiring a PERSONAL & PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM ADVISOR Near Jacksonville, NC

This position is located with the Marine & Family Program Division at the New River Transition Readiness Program.

Major Duties

What to Expect

  • Helps clients assess their values, interests, abilities and skills and relate these to opportunities for employment, education, training and life skills.
  • Liaises with unit commanders to promote the use of advisement services.
  • Administers and interprets psychometric tests and personality inventories.
  • Provides initial assessment of the client's career and personal readiness circumstances and provides basic advice in order to aid the process of supporting their individual development plan.
  • Researches information on local and national career, education and/or recruitment procedures and policies, and labor market trends and produces supporting materials.
  • Facilitates Personal and Professional Development's workshops, activities, and events.
  • Adapts instructional strategies to meet student needs and utilizes technology and varied media as appropriate.
  • This is a white-collar position where occasional lifting up to 20 lbs. may be required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

What are we looking for?

  • Bachelor's Degree in Education, Counseling, Rehabilitation, Personal Financial Management or related field is required (Master's degree is highly preferred).
  • Must have a minimum of three years' experience in, or related to, career planning, employment services, personal financial management, direct advisement of students, curriculum design, and/or instructing.
  • Ability to work independently and follow-through on assigned tasks.
  • Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests, learning and motivation.
  • Must be able to operate a personal computer, printer, etc., and have current knowledge in various office computer programs and software applications.
  • Ability to evaluate, plan, and implement training systems for both in classroom and online instruction and delivery.
  • Experience in education, career and personal financial management development strategies for diverse higher education populations is preferred.
  • Experience in resume writing is preferred.
