Job Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Medical Collector to join our team. As a Medical Collector, you will be responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate collection of outstanding medical bills. This position requires strong knowledge of medical billing procedures, coding systems, and medical terminology.
Duties:
- Review and analyze medical records and bills to identify outstanding balances
- Contact patients, insurance companies, and healthcare providers to resolve payment discrepancies
- Follow up on unpaid claims and denials to ensure proper reimbursement
- Verify insurance coverage and eligibility for patients
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and billing information
- Collaborate with the billing department to resolve any billing issues or discrepancies
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing patient inquiries and concerns regarding their medical bills
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- experience as a Medical Collector or similar role
- Strong knowledge of medical billing procedures, coding systems, and medical terminology
- Familiarity with DRG (Diagnosis Related Group) codes is a plus
- Proficient in using medical office software and systems
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
