Description
As a part of a diverse community of faculty and staff who represent many faith systems and worldviews, Marian University's Ancilla College seeks an Academic Advisor/Administrative Assistant to promote our Catholic Franciscan mission and identity by taking responsibilities of academic advisor include academic advising and support, recruitment, and retention of prospective and current nursing students. The advisor interacts with faculty, professional staff, students, and other college personnel to enhance and facilitate the admission, progression, and graduation of nursing students. Major responsibilities of administrative assistant include providing administrative support to all members ofMUACLSON, including students, faculty, and professional staff.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Academic Advisor:
  • Actively engage the Catholic Franciscan mission and identity of Marian University by modeling the Franciscan Sponsorship Values and honoring the legacy of the founding congregation through transformative education, unity in diversity leadership through service, integrating faith and life, and institutional policies.
  • Performs all responsibilities in accordance with established policies and procedures of Marian University and the Leighton School of Nursing (LSON)
  • Provides academic advising for pre-nursing and undergraduate nursing students.
  • Presents to students at application sessions and other campus events.
  • Monitors and documents student progress from admission, progression through graduation regarding grades,GPA, degree audits and program requirements.
  • Maintains students files to ensure compliance with theLSONrequirements.
  • Communicates concerns about student progress to student, faculty, and the Director of Nursing
  • Other duties as assigned.
Administrative Assistant:
  • Actively engage the Catholic Franciscan mission and identity of Marian University by modeling the Franciscan Sponsorship Values and honoring the legacy of the founding congregation through transformative education, unity in diversity leadership through service, integrating faith and life, and institutional policies.
  • Provides administrative support to all members of theMUACNursing site as requested including the leadership team, faculty and staff.
  • SupportsLSONdaily functions including but not limited to the following:
    o Arranges and attendsMUACLSONevents including pinning ceremonies as indicated.
    o Facilitates the onboarding and off-boarding of Nursing full time/part time faculty and staff.
    o Arranges requests for building maintenance and IT needs of faculty/staff as requested.
    o Manages accreditation files including hardcopy and electronic files.
    o MaintainsLSONfiles including updates, filing, and purging.
    o Communicates with Nursing faculty/staff on a daily/weekly basis, outcomes of delegated tasks.
    o Manages requests and distribution of office supplies, equipment, and other needs for Nursing faculty/staff.
    o Produces and edits correspondences.
    o Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Excellent organization and communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Ability to advise multiple populations of students simultaneously.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite of products including but not limited to Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point.
  • Willingness to learn and become proficient in commonly used office and institutional productively software, student/faculty learning platforms and technology such as Skype, WebEx, etc.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal guidance and direction.
  • Exhibit professionalism and high ethical standards for maintaining confidential information.
