Marcum LLP's internal Client Accounting & Advisory Services (CAS) Technology department is looking for a full time Technology Implementation Specialist with a strong background in data management, implementing accounting technology stacks and related accounting services, tailored to our clients' needs.

The Specialist will be part of the IT Transformation Team, supporting Marcum's Client Accounting & Advisory Services (CAS) Practice. The ideal candidate has extensive experience with implementations, particularly focused on Customer Advisory Services in collaboration with Accounting Teams.

The Technology Implementation Specialist must have at least 3-5 years' experience using or implementing QuickBooks Desktop or QuickBooks Online, as well as experience with SDLC IT Business Analysis, Data Mapping, Project Management, and Product Delivery. Having a PMP and Accounting Firm experience is a plus.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Tech Stack Implementation and Optimization
  • Lead the design, implementation, optimization of technology stacks to meet specific client requirements
  • Work closely with clients to understand their needs and tailor tech stack solutions accordingly
  • Data Management and Analysis
  • Evaluate current storage of QuickBooks Desktop and other accounting software file storage structure for efficiency and relevancy; determine and recommend new processes, including archiving and /or moving documents to the cloud.
  • Apply expertise in data handling, manipulation, and analysis to derive meaningful insights and provide data-driven recommendations
  • Ensure accuracy, consistency, and reliability of data throughout various systems and processes
  • Client Account Services:
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide client advisory services and guidance on leveraging technology for improved operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.
  • Assist in formulating strategies and solutions that align with clients' business goals and accounting functions
  • Project Management:
  • Lead and manage projects related to data conversion and file migrations, ensuring successful delivery within specified timelines and budget constraints
  • Provide regular update to stakeholders and manage expectations throughout the project lifecycle
  • Manage third-party vendors and offshore team members.

Required Skills:

  • Strong background in technology implementation, data management, and analysis in relation to Accounting processes
  • At least 3-5 years using or implementing QuickBooks Desktop or QuickBooks Online (QBO)
  • Understanding of Accounting principles and best practices including financial statements, cash flow, expense management, chart of accounts Tool (COA)
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to review data
  • Ability to provide alternative solutions to identified gaps, and create business and technical requirements documentation
  • Ability to design and implement tech stacks tailored to client needs
  • Project management experience and proficiency in relevant project management tools
  • At least 2-3 years managing projects related to implementing, migrating, or releasing software, preferably related to accounting and/or payroll services
  • Expertise delivering projects using a 'best-practice' project delivery approach
  • Expertise defining and managing project scope, project plans, milestones, dependencies, communication plans, project risks, issues, dependencies, and deliverables.
  • Identify and document process and procedures
  • Expert resource management that delivers quality projects on time, in scope and within budget
  • Effective communications, setting expectations with project teams and stakeholders
  • Ability to multi-task, manage multiple projects at once, and adapt to changing / competing priorities
  • Outside the box thinking, utilizing best practices, leading projects with creativity, flexibility, and a sense of urgency
  • Experience advising clients in Client Account Services, particularly in collaboration with Accounting Teams
  • Professional level of written and verbal communication, and interpersonal skills to effectively interact and present to C-Level, clients and internal teams on an ongoing and timely basis
  • Ability to be flexible in work schedule to accommodate meetings with offshore associates.
  • Advanced level experience using Excel, Word, and Visio
  • Experience creating training documentation and rolling out new processes to the firm
  • Willingness to stay updated with evolving technologies and industry trends

Preferred Skills:

  • Hands on experience using or implementing accounting software products e.g. Xero, Intacct, BILL, etc.
  • Experience with Project Planning tools, such as Wrike or MS Project
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or Information Systems

Light travel will be required.
