Description

MARC, Inc. is for a Part-Time Direct Support Professional to work in our day program called Shannon's Place. We are seeking dependable, caring individuals who have experience assisting adults with developmental disabilities. This position is responsible to assist individuals with personal growth and reaching their goals. The qualified candidate would possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, as well as good judgment.

Requirements: CPR, First Aid and PMT is preferred. Must have a High School Diploma. Must have a valid CT Driver's License and a vehicle with current registration and insurance, as driving is a requirement of the position.

This is a Part-Time position between the hours of 8am-2:30pm.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Implements Day Service services which offer both daily community activities and center based activity options.
Participates in activities according to individual preferences.
Prepares necessary reports and completes documentation as required by the agency and the State Department of Developmental Services.
Ensures accurate emergency fact sheet information and case record files for participants.
Attends staff meetings, scheduled in-services, and specified individual meetings.
Transports participants to and from the Day Service in agency vehicle or own car.
Assists in routine maintenance of Day Service van.
Administer proper supports to individuals in need of daily toileting routines and ADL skills.
Assists in agency Service Evaluation System.
Writes for the agency monthly newsletter.
Creatively plans and implements appropriate activities for all participants.
Administers medications to participants in a timely and accurate manner.
Medication administration is a critical component of day service staff responsibilities.
Performs other duties as designated by the Day Program Manager.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge of recreation services.
Knowledge of agency policies and State and Federal laws, policies and regulations.
Knowledge of management information systems.
Ability to analyze situations and develop creative solutions.
Ability to act quickly and remain calm in a crisis.
Ability to relate well to others on an individual basis and in a group.
Ability to train and consult with individuals both internally and within the community.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Ability to organize, be flexible, keep a neat work area, and work independently.
Ability to drive, have available a personal car.
Ability to obtain and ensure Medication Administration Certificate through the Department of Developmental Services within six months of hire date and keep current throughout duration of employment at MARC.
Knowledge of proactive thinking and positive supports.
Must be able to complete all essential job duties, minimum qualifications, and physical efforts with or without a disability.

PHYSICAL EFFORTS:
Frequent sitting, walking, standing, and driving.
Ability to lift and transfer up to 30 lbs. and occasional lifting of nonambulatory people
