MARC, Inc of Manchester is Hiring a Development Director Near Manchester, CT

MARC, Inc. of Manchester is looking for a Development Director. The Development Director will spearhead development efforts as MARC, Inc. continues to grow. This individual will play a pivotal role in advancing our mission by leading fundraising efforts and cultivating relationships with donors, sponsors, and community partners. They will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to increase philanthropic support, raise awareness of our cause, and ensure the long-term sustainability of our organization. The director will also market a positive image of MARC, Inc. both internally and externally and ensure that services provided to the people served are in accordance with not only MARC’s mission statement and philosophy but also with State and Federal mandated laws, policies and regulations.

The candidate will have a Bachelors degree as well as a minimum of 5 years working in an administrative management position in the nonprofit sector. The position requires some knowledge and experience in fundraising and a commitment to continuous learning. MARC offers professional development.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Fundraising Strategy: Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy aligned with organizational goals and objectives. Identify new funding opportunities and diversify revenue streams to support programmatic initiatives and organizational growth.
  • Donor Cultivation and Stewardship: Build and maintain strong relationships with individual donors, corporate partners, foundations, and other stakeholders. Cultivate a culture of philanthropy within the organization and provide personalized stewardship to donors to enhance engagement and retention.
  • Grant Writing and Management: Research, write, and submit grant proposals to secure funding from foundations, government agencies, and other grant-making entities. Manage grant reporting requirements and ensure compliance with grant agreements.
  • Special Events and Campaigns: Plan, coordinate, and execute fundraising events, campaigns, and initiatives to raise awareness and funds for the organization. Collaborate with staff, volunteers, and board members to maximize participation and impact. Design and produce annual giving campaign, as well as auxiliary marketing, promotional, and outreach materials.
  • Marketing and Communications: In conjunction with the Marketing and Communications Specialist, develop development materials, donor communications, and outreach strategies. Utilize various communication channels, including social media, email marketing, and traditional media, to promote fundraising activities and engage stakeholders.
  • Budget Management: Oversee the development budget, ensuring that resources are allocated effectively to achieve fundraising goals and objectives.
  • Board and Committee Engagement: Work closely with the board of directors and fundraising committees to leverage their networks, expertise, and resources in support of fundraising efforts. Provide regular updates and reports to the board on fundraising progress and outcomes.
  • Managerial: Oversee Marketing and Communications Specialist and staff responsible for fundraising/special events. Manage and oversee staff responsible for updates to the MARC, Inc. website and social media platforms.
  • Administrative: Track proposals and make reports for all foundation and corporate fundraising. Manage and maintain donor tracking software (DonorPerfect) and oversee staff responsible for data entry and gift processing. Ensure publication of the Lantern newsletter and other communications such as email blasts, mass texts, etc.
  • Responsible for the development and implementation of the annual Resource Development Plan, that meets and/or exceeds goals and objectives, submit to the President & CEO and Board for acceptance. This plan may consist of various elements such as fundraisers, grants, appeals, bequests, etc.
  • Acts as Staff Liaison to the Endowment Committee, coordinate meetings, prepare agendas, reports, and minutes. Submits semi-annual report to the Board.
  • Acts as Staff Liaison to Public Relations Committee, assists the Marketing and Communications Specialist in the preparation of agendas, minutes, surveys and the dissemination of such and is responsible for follow-up of implementation of marketing initiatives. Present updates to the Board.
  • Attends outside agency, staff, committee, Department Director, and specific employee meetings as needed.
  • Performs all other duties as designated by the President & CEO.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, sales, public relations, or equivalent experience and accomplishments.
  • Five years’ of experience in nonprofit fundraising, with a proven track record of success in securing major gifts, grants, and sponsorships.
  • Knowledge of current Marketing Industry trends for not-for-profit organizations.
  • Knowledge of agency policies and State and Federal laws, policies and regulations
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate the organization's mission and impact to diverse audiences.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with donors, volunteers, staff, and community partners.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing fundraising strategies, campaigns, and events.
  • Proficiency in donor database management and fundraising software.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to analyze data, identify trends, and adapt fundraising approaches accordingly.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, with a passion for serving individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Ability to act quickly and remain calm in a crisis.
  • Ability to relate well to others on an individual basis and in a group.
  • Ability to train and consult with individuals both internally and within the community.
  • Ability to organize, be flexible, ensure neat work area, and work independently.
  • Ability to drive and have available a personal car.
  • Must be able to complete all essential job duties, minimum qualifications, and physical efforts with or without a disability.
