Manville School (The Baker Center) is Hiring a Special Education Assistant Teacher, Gr. K-5 ($2,500 Signing Bonus!) Near Boston, MA

SPECIAL EDUCATION ASSISTANT TEACHER As a member of a three-person, multidisciplinary classroom team, the Assistant Teacher ensures that students are provided individualized instruction and access to learning. The Assistant Teacher plans and implements some small group/whole group lessons under the direct supervision of the Special Education Teacher, and also implements lessons developed by the Special Education Teacher. The Assistant Teacher supports the maintenance of data collection for progress reporting, and also supports classroom management. Working with a classroom team made up of a Special Education Teacher and Classroom Behavior Specialist/Milieu Counselor, the Assistant Teacher creates a respectful, safe, and inclusive environment for the six to ten students in their classroom. This self-motivated individual communicates clearly, maintains calm, and has an enthusiastic approach to their work. ABOUT MANVILLE SCHOOL Manville School, a program of the Baker Center for Children and Families, is a therapeutic day school providing special education, clinical, and behavioral support for students in kindergarten through tenth grade with complex social-emotional, behavioral, and learning needs. For more information on Manville School, visit bakercenter.org/manville. Manville School’s extended school year (summer program) runs for 20 days during July and August, 4 days per week. The program focuses on maintaining academic and social skills, and preventing regression of behavioral skills. In addition to morning academic instruction, students participate weekly PE, Art, OT, and SLP group lessons. Daily enrichment activities, including field trips and in-house programs, are organized for students.
