CLASSROOM BEHAVIOR SPECIALIST/MILIEU COUNSELOR As one member of a three-person, multidisciplinary classroom team, the Classroom Behavior Specialist/Milieu Counselor's primary focus is providing effective behavioral support to students in their classroom. The Classroom Behavior Specialist/Milieu Counselor utilizes positive behavior interventions, behavioral principles, therapeutic strategies, and strong relationships to support students in daily school activities. This individual supports students both within and outside of the classroom, models social interactions between students, and intervenes effectively in periods of behavioral dysregulation. Additionally, the Classroom Behavior Specialist/Milieu Counselor collects behavioral data, completes necessary incident reports, and collaborates in the implementation of behavior support plans. Working with a classroom team made up of a Special Education Teacher and Assistant Teacher, the Classroom Behavior Specialist/Milieu Counselor helps to create a respectful, safe, and inclusive environment for the six to ten students in their classroom. ABOUT MANVILLE SCHOOL Manville School, a program of the Baker Center for Children and Families, is a therapeutic day school providing special education, clinical, and behavioral support for students in kindergarten through tenth grade with complex social-emotional, behavioral, and learning needs. Manville provides services for up to 115 students from over 50 school districts in the greater Boston area, and has approximately 100 educational, clinical, and behavioral staff members.
