Position Description Summary
The Department of Mathematics, Computer Science, and Digital Forensics at Commonwealth University of Pennsylvania invites applications for a full-time temporary faculty for the 2024-2025 academic year.
The home campus for this position is Bloomsburg with the expectation of serving a multi-campus University within the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education.
About the Department: The Department of Mathematics, Computer Science, and Digital Forensics has 33 faculty members on three campuses.
About the College: The College of Science and Technology includes the departments of Biochemistry, Chemistry, Engineering, and Physics, Biology, Environmental, Geographical, and Geological Sciences, and Mathematics, Computer Science, and Digital Forensics.
Duties
Teaching introductory mathematics and statistics courses such as: Mathematical Thinking, Critical Reasoning, College Algebra, Precalculus, Introduction to Statistics, Mathematics for the Health Sciences, and Finite Mathematics. The normal full-time teaching load is 12 credit hours of instruction per-semester.
Qualifying Experience and Education (Minimum/Preferred)
  • An earned Master’s degree in Mathematics or Statistics; an earned Master’s degree in Computer Science with at least 30 credits of graduate level mathematics courses; an earned Master’s degree in a related field with at least 30 credits of graduate level mathematics courses.
  • The ability to communicate well, a strong commitment to teaching, and demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations.

Background Clearances
Offers of employment are conditional, pending successful completion of the background clearances mandated by Act 153 of 2014 and Board of Governors Policy 2014-01-A: Protection of Minors. In order to qualify for a provisional appointment, the Applicant Acknowledgement Consent Form, Provisional Hire Form, Pennsylvania State Police and Justifacts portion of the clearance process must be successfully completed prior to your start date. The remaining PA Child Abuse History Clearance and FBI Clearance must be successfully completed and returned as soon as possible within the first 90 days of employment.
