Qualifications: Reading Specialist PK-12 Certification

Additional Information: As a teacher, the reading specialist is responsible for providing direct instruction to students in the whole class setting and/ or in small groups to enable students to develop literacy skills.
The Reading Specialist must be an instructional leader who is student-centered, able to create and foster a conducive learning environment for students, plan Standards-based lessons, deliver differentiated instruction and intervention, utilize various assessment practices to inform instruction, and engage in continual reflection of teacher effectiveness. This individual is expected to participate and engage in school community events, professional development, and contribute to the profession in an effort to continually grow and learn to refine instructional practices.
